Fr. German’s Message
“WE ARE THE CHURCH”
From October 11, 2012 to November 24, 2013 we will live the
Year of Faith proclaimed by Benedict XVI.
From October 7th to the 28th 2012, took place in
Rome, at the invocation of Pope Benedict XVI, a Synod of Bishops that gathered
to reflect upon the New Evangelization.
The Synod and the Year of Faith are two important events in the life of
the Church and they invite us to reflect upon the role that we play in the
Church.
Through baptism, you and I have received the Spirit of God. This Spirit
allows us to say Abba (Father), reveals to us our belonging to the Body of
Christ (the Church) and enlightens and fortifies us to live in the world as
messengers of the Good News.
The Synod placed great emphasis on the importance of conversion.
We must transform ourselves if we are to live out our baptism in our
daily lives.
I believe that in our parish we are in need of a conversion.
In this Year of Faith, I invite you to move from a passive faith to an
active faith.
In the Church, in the parish, in our community, we need people that feel
a sense of responsibility for the life and energy of the parish family.
We need Christians to live out there baptism as a commitment to the
Church, the parish, and the community.
We must transform ourselves to evolve from consumer Christians to
engaged Christians.
Every baptized, every Christian that participates and considers him or
herself a member of our parish must commit to the Church, to the parish, to the
community.
For every one of us there is a role.
No baptized individual should feel themselves useless or left out of
life or the activities of the parish.
If the life and energy of a community rests upon 3 or 4 individuals,
within several months or years there will eventually be no one. However, if all
the baptized become pillars of our community, involved in the numerous
activities we propose and can develop, the community will feel better overall,
the Church will grow and our parish will live for many more years.
In this Year of Faith, do not miss the opportunity to commit yourself to
God to live out your Faith and your Baptism in a productive way within the
Church, in the parish, and in the community.
The New Evangelization begins with a transformation within all
Christians and the first step that we must all take is to commit ourselves to
our own Church, parish, and community.
If you do not yet know how to become engaged, please contact us directly
or reach out to an individual who is already actively committed. We will help
you to find the way along which God awaits you in order to build His Kingdom.
We are the Church. Come and help us to build a community so that
your children and grandchildren will find a living Church, an open parish and a
happy community.
Happy Year of Faith to all.
Have a happy week.
