Fr. German’s Message

The weekend of October 30 and 31^st we are going to pray for all the dead.

The Church invites us to remember the dead on the 2^nd of November, but since it is Tuesday, we have decided to take advantage of our Sunday gathering to celebrate this feast with all the community.

It is important to remember those who have gone before us. We all have one or more deceased relatives who have marked our lives by their personality, way of life, faith, friendship, love, holiness…

We have also known people who have not had a happy life and who never had the joy of encountering our Lord, of experiencing love, and living in peace.

We will pray, in community, for all of them.

We will thank our Lord for all those who shared something with us, and we will trust in our merciful God for those who, in their lives, never did find the way of love and peace.

On this feast of all the faithful departed, we will place a flower or a bouquet of flowers on someone’s grave or in the church to show our faith in life after death.  The flowers remind us of beauty, love and life.  All the flowers which will beautify the graves will remind us that, in the face of suffering separation, there is the hope of life in paradise, of our encounter with God, and seeing our loved ones again.

Let us take advantage of this Feast of All Souls to pray for our parents and deceased relatives and friends who have preceded us in death and are now before God.

In all our weekend Masses of October 30^th and 31^st we will mention the persons who have passed away this year since the 2^nd of November, 2009.  We will light a candle to ask our Lord to enlighten our darkness and to help us reaffirm our hope in the face of death.

If you want us to remember someone close to you who has died during these last 12 months, send us (Parish office 11607 Ohio Ave. LA CA 90025 or by photo to (310) 478 0136 or by E mail:  office@stsebastian.net) the name and the date of death so that we can include him/her in the list of the faithful departed.

Tell us also which Mass you wish that we pray for your departed, and invite your friends and relatives to pray for your friend or departed relative.

We will also pray for the families that suffer because of this separation and ask the Lord that He help us be close to those who are in need of consolation.

Mensaje del  P. Germán

El fin de semana del 30 y 31 de octubre vamos a orar por los difuntos.

La Iglesia nos invita a recordad todos los difuntos el 2 de noviembre pero, como se trata de un martes decidimos aprovechar del encuentro dominical para celebrar esta fiesta con toda la comunidad.

Es importante recordad a sus antepasados. Todos tenemos uno o varios parientes muertos que nos han marcado por su personalidad, por su manera de vivir, por su fe, por su amistad, por su amor, por su santidad.

También hemos conocido personas que no han tenido una vida feliz y que nunca tuvieron la alegría de encontrar al Señor, de conocer el amor y de vivir en paz.

Por todos los difuntos vamos a orar en la comunidad. Vamos a agradecer al Señor por la vida de todos aquellos que nos aportaron algo y vamos a confiar al Dios misericordioso todos aquellos que en su vida no encontraron nunca el camino del amor y de la paz.

En esta fiesta de todos los difuntos vamos a colocar una flor o un ramo de flores en una tumba o en la Iglesia para manifestar nuestra fe en la vida después de la muerte. Las flores nos recuerdan la belleza, el amor y la vida. Todas las flores que van a embellecer las tumbas y que van a ser ofrecidas por un difunto nos recuerdan que frente al sufrimiento de la separación hay la esperanza de la vida en el paraíso, del encuentro con Dios.

Aprovechemos de esta fiesta de todos los difuntos para orar por los parientes que nos han precedido. En familia y con los niños, recordemos a nuestros amigos y a nuestros parientes difuntos que están hoy frente a Dios.

En todas las misas del fin de semana del 30 y 31 de octubre, vamos a mencionar las personas que nos han dejado en este año desde el 2 de noviembre del 2009. Vamos a prender una vela para pedir al Señor que ilumine nuestras obscuridades y que nos ayude a reafirmar nuestra esperanza frente a la muerte.

Si usted quiere que recordemos a alguien cercano a usted muerto en estos últimos 12 meses, transmítanos (Oficina parroquial 11607 Ohio Ave. LA CA 90025 o por teléfono al 3104780136 o por E Mail a office@stsebastian.net) su nombre y la fecha de su muerte para que podamos incluirlo en la lista de los difuntos. Díganos también en cuál de las misas quiere usted que oremos por su difunto e invite a sus amigos y familiares a orar por su amigo(a) o pariente difunto.

También oraremos por las familias que sufren a causa de la separación y le pediremos al Señor que nos ayude a estar cerca de aquellos que necesitan consuelo.
