Fr. German’s Message
Alleluia, Christ is risen,
For one week, we have been celebrating the Feast of Easter, and in our
churches Christians sing with joy the Alleluia that we had ceased to sing
during Lent.
Rejoice! Christ has risen and lives among us. He is alive just as he
promised us.
The Good News, the Gospel, that Christians carry in their hearts and
should share with all humanity, can be summarized in the following phrase:
Christ is risen and is living among us.
We are sometimes in the dark and in the shadow of death as a result of
our sins, due to war, due to injustice, due to the financial situation, due to
the evil that surrounds us.
During difficult times in our lives we can come to Christ who dwells
among us. He is with us and came to offer us the light of the Resurrection and
the joy of the Holy Spirit to help us battle against evil and work towards
liberty, peace, justice, and love.
No sin, no illness, no suffering can separate us from the love of God.
On this First Sunday after the feast of Easter, the Church celebrates
the Feast of Divine Mercy (Mercy Sunday).
Based on the apparitions and messages of Christ to Sister Faustina
(canonized on April 30, 2000), the Blessed John Paul II declared the first
Sunday after Easter as the Feast of Divine Mercy.
The Church tells us and reminds us in multiple ways that Christ is in
our midst to reveal to us God’s infinite love for each and every one of us.
The new evangelism should experience a new discovery of the image of
God, who is love and only love and mercy.
Let us take advantage of this time of Easter to be reconciled with
Christ, with the Church, and with our brothers and sisters.
During this Easter, when the Church demonstrates the light of Christ
that brightens the world, and the water that purifies and enlivens the
baptized, let us open up our hearts to the love and mercy of God in order to
live in the joy that God bestows on his children when they accept His love and
forgiveness.
May this Feast of the Divine Mercy help us to understand that our God is
a god of love, a patient god that desires our happiness and our peace.
Christ is risen, Alleluia, Christ lives and is in our midst to guide and
direct us towards happiness
