Fr. German’s Message

 

This year the Feast of the Assumption is celebrated on a Sunday and the liturgy proposes the gospel of the visitation of Mary and her cousin Elizabeth.

The feast of the Assumption, when Mary ascended into heaven, reminds us of the apparitions of Mary on earth.

In many countries there are shrines in places where Mary descended from heaven to visit humanity.

The feast of the Assumption is a good opportunity to be grateful to Mary for all these visitations to earth.

Each of us is bonded in one place or another to Mary’s visitations.

In Mexico, with the Virgin of Guadalupe, in France, with our Lady of Lourdes, in Colombia, our Lady of Chiquinquira, in Portugal, our Lady of Fatima, in Spain, our Lady of Pilar, in the United States with our Lady of America…

Always it is about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who comes to visit us and to remind us that she loves us like a mother loves her children, and that she takes care of each of us, to help us to meet her Son.

The text of the visitation that the liturgy relates to us this Sunday is one of happiness. The happiness of Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth receives Mary in her house and recognizes her as the most important of all women.

And the baby John in her womb jumps with joy in the presence of the mother of God.

On this 15^th of August, in this feast of the Assumption of Mary, on this day in which we remember Mary’s apparitions on earth, we can rejoice that we have a mother in heaven who frequently comes to earth to remind us that God loves us and that we can live in happiness, since all of us have a place in God’s heart.

Let’s rejoice and sing with Mary the Magnificat to give thanks to God for all her visitations. She consoles us in sadness, she brightens our outlook and faith, and she accompanies us in our happiness.

The feast of the Assumption reminds us that Mary ascended to heaven and so brings us closer to God, and she visits us each time that we call upon her, and each time that we open our hearts to say: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Mensaje del  P. Germán

 

Este año la fiesta de la Asunción se celebra un domingo y la liturgia nos propone el Evangelio de la Visitación de Maria a su prima Isabel.

La fiesta de la Asunción (María subió al cielo) nos recuerda todas las apariciones de María en la tierra.

En muchos países hay santuarios construidos en lugares en donde María descendió del cielo para visitar a los hombres.

La fiesta de la Asunción es una buena oportunidad para agradecer a María por todas las visitaciones que le ha hecho a nuestra humanidad.

Cada uno de nosotros está ligado a la visitación de Maria en un lugar o en otro. En México con la Virgen de Guadalupe, en Francia con Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, en Colombia con Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá, en el Portugal con Nuestra Señora de Fátima, en España con Nuestra Señora del Pilar, en Estados Unidos con Nuestra Señora de América,… Siempre se trata de Maria, la Madre de Jesús que viene a visitarnos y a recordarnos que ella nos ama como una madre ama a sus hijos y que ella cuida de cada uno de nosotros para ayudarnos a encontrarnos con su Hijo.

El texto de la visitación que la liturgia nos propone para este domingo nos habla de la alegría. Alegría de María que va a visitar a su prima Isabel. Alegría de Isabel que recibe a María en su casa y que reconoce en ella más grande entre todas las mujeres. Alegría de Juan que salta de emoción en el vientre de su madre frente a la presencia de la madre de Dios.

En este 15 de agosto, en este domingo de vacaciones, en esta fiesta de la Asunción de María, en este día en el cual recordamos las apariciones de María en la tierra, podemos alegrarnos ya que tenemos una Madre que está en el cielo y que viene frecuentemente a la tierra a recordarnos que Dios nos ama y que podemos vivir alegres ya que cada uno de nosotros tiene un puesto en el corazón de Dios.

Alegrémonos y cantemos con Maria el Magnificat para darle gracias a Dios por todas las visitaciones que Maria ha hecho a nuestra tierra y por todas las visitaciones que Maria nos hace cuando nos consuela en la tristeza, cuando nos anima en las dificultades y cuando nos acompaña en las alegrías.

Que esta fiesta de la Asunción nos recuerde que María subió al cielo para llevarnos con ella más cerca de Dios y que ella nos visita cada vez que necesitamos de ella y cada vez que abrimos nuestro corazón para decir: Santa Maria, Madre de Dios, ruega por nosotros pecadores, ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte amen.
