Fr. German’s Message

 

To continue last’s week message, I want that we continue reflecting on welcoming others.

For a long time I have realized that the success of many churches and communities is due mainly to their welcome quality.

Our first impression when we meet someone or come to a group or community is very important for the future of a relationship.

The welcome that we receive in a place that we visit for the first time, or in a new job makes us feel good or impedes us to show how we really are.

In the Gospels we can see the importance that Jesus gives to welcoming others.

In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus reminds us that sometimes we pass across people who we do not see and who need our help. The Good Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. Lc 10.33

Martha and Maria welcomed Jesus in their home and Jesus became a family friend. Lc 10.38

The same Jesus welcomes the adulteress who society accuses and condemns to death. Jn 8.1ss.

In order to understand that the welcome must be disinterested, Jesus proclaims “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” Mt 19.14 

And if we are still not convinced of the importance of the welcome in the life of Jesus disciples, we can read what the Lord says in Mt. 10.40-42: “He who receives you receives me”.

We must learn to receive others in the same way as Jesus did. Open the doors of the church, of home and heart so others can enter and discover God’s Love for humanity.

The baptized gathered Sunday at the Eucharist make up the Body of Christ, but in order to truly be a Sign for others, we must welcome, greet and love each other so that the Body of Christ would be visible in our celebrations and our gatherings.

We must increase the occasions of encounter, sharing and friendship so that we could welcome each other and discover that by welcoming our brothers we are welcoming Christ.

Let’s try to reflect, create and promote the moment and ways of welcome so that our community rises in number, fraternal testimonies, and Gospel life.

Mensaje del P. Germán

Para continuar el mensaje de la semana pasada, quiero que pensemos a la acogida.

Desde hace mucho tiempo estoy convencido que el éxito en muchas iglesias o comunidades depende en gran parte de la calidad de la acogida.

La primera impresión que tenemos al conocer a alguien o al llegar a un grupo o a una comunidad es muy importante en el futuro de la relación.

La acogida que recibimos en un lugar que visitamos por primera vez o en un nuevo trabajo nos hace sentir bien o nos impide de presentarnos tal como somos.

En los Evangelios podemos ver la importancia que Jesús le da a la acogida.

En la parábola del buen Samaritano Jesús nos recuerda que a veces pasamos al lado de personas que no vemos y que necesitan nuestra ayuda. El buen Samaritano ve alguien que sufre, cuida de él y lo acoge. Lc 10,33

Martha y Maria acogen a Jesús en su casa y Jesús se convierte en un amigo de la familia Lc 10,38

El mismo Jesús acoge a la mujer adúltera que la sociedad acusa y condena a muerte Jn 8,1ss.

Para que comprendamos que la acogida debe ser desinteresada, Jesús declara: “Dejen los niños venir a mí, no se lo impidan, ya que el Reino de los Cielos pertenece a los que son como ellos” Mt 19,14

Y si aún no estamos convencidos de la importancia de la acogida en la vida de los discípulos de Jesús, podemos leer lo que dice el Señor en Mt 10,40-42: “quién los acoge me acoge”.

Debemos aprender a acoger como Jesús. Abrir las puertas de la iglesia, de la casa y del corazón para que los otros puedan entrar y descubrir el Amor de Dios por toda la humanidad.

Los bautizados reunidos el domingo en la Eucaristía forman el Cuerpo de Cristo pero para que seamos verdaderamente un Signo para los otros debemos acogernos, saludarnos, amarnos los unos a los otros para que el Cuerpo del Cristo sea visible en nuestras celebraciones y en nuestras reuniones.

Debemos multiplicar las ocasiones de encuentro, para compartir y de amistad para que podamos acogernos los unos a los otros y descubrir que al acoger a nuestros hermanos estamos acogiendo a Cristo.

Tratemos de pensar, inventar y promover los momentos y las formas de acogida para que nuestra comunidad crezca en número y en testimonio de fraternidad, de vida Evangélica.
