Fr. German’s Message
In the homily on Thanksgiving day, I invited the community to thank God
for the solidarity that exists among us and our city. That day, we prayed for all those around us
who are thinking of others, and participating in the pastoral activities of our
community.
We thanked our Lord for the people who take their time to help others
and participate in the life of our parish.
We thought about those who use their talents in the service of others
and the church. We implored a blessing
upon those who share their money with people who need it the most, and with
their economic support help the parish to develop pastoral activities.
The volunteers who have understood that by baptism we integrate into the
body of Christ and that body is visible in the community that gathers to listen
to the word of God, to celebrate the presence of the Lord and to serve the most
needy among us. These volunteers are a blessing in our parish.
I am not going to enumerate all the fields in which they are committed
because I run the risk of forgetting some.
I would like simply to say thank you to all the people who in one way or
another participate in the parochial life of Saint Sebastian. Thanks to their presence and the people whom they
invite to unite with us, our community grows day by day. Thanks to their active participation in the
life of the parish, we continue announcing and giving testimony to the love of
God for humankind.
Thank you very much to all the volunteers who compose the pillars upon
which our community rests. May God bless them and all of their loved ones with
the peace that comes from God.
There are among us some who have been baptized, but still are not active
in the life of the community. Some who
have been baptized still have not understood that they need the community and
the community needs them. There are some who think that they don’t have
anything to share with the community or that they are not necessary for the
proper functioning of the community.
In the name of the gospel, in the name of the church, in the name of the
community and as pastor of Saint Sebastian, I say to those who do not feel
responsible for the life of the community, that we pray and wait that they soon
discover the happiness of participating in the building up of the community and
the beauty of the body of Christ present in our parish.
Think of the talents and the richness that God has given you.
Do not hide what God placed in your hands for the good of others.
Discover the happiness that comes from sharing, and you will receive
more than you give.
In these days of the celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe, I pray to
God, for this intercession for all of you:
that our community will give testimony to all of the happiness of living
among family, the family of God.
Happy celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe.
Have a great week.
