Fr. German’s Message

On this journey that leads us to Christmas, the American church invites us to pause for a few days to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

From Saturday, Dec. 4 to Saturday, Dec. 11^th, we will have a novena at 7 pm with the rosary followed by a Mass and the distribution of chocolate, champurrado and other pastries offered by the group in charge of organizing the novena each evening.

From Monday, Dec. 6^th to Friday the 10^th we will have the pleasure of welcoming Ernesto Vega who is responsible for the Hispanic Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Ernesto is a great expert in the history and interpretation of the apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Juan Diego.  In his presentations after Mass, Ernesto will help us to understand the historical and human context in which the apparitions occurred. We will also study the symbolisms present in the apparitions so as to better comprehend the revelations of the great Guadalupe miracle.

Sunday, December 12^th , the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, will begin at 5 in the morning with the “mañanitas” which will be sung by the “Guitarras Románticas” group.

From 7:30 am to noon Masses will be celebrated as usual. The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated most solemnly at the noon Mass and will be complemented by a mariachi group.

We are all invited after Mass by the Guadalupanas, for an hour of mariachi music and to take part in a tasty luncheon..

The essential part of the celebration will be in Spanish but we will have some translations in English as well.

Sunday, December 5^th, the Archdiocese invites us to participate in the procession and at the table presided by coadjutor, Archbishop José H. Gomez. The procession begins at 11 am at the corner of Ford and Cesar Chavez in East Los Angeles. The Mass begins at 1:30 pm in the East Los Angeles College stadium at 1301 Cesar Chavez Ave., Monterrey Park, CA.

If you wish to participate with our St. Sebastian parish group, you must register at the parish center to reserve a seat  on the bus.  .

PRAY FOR PEACE

At the Thanksgiving holidays, during the time of Advent, and over the Christmas holidays, I would like to invite you to pray especially for peace throughout the world.

Don’t hesitate to join us as we unite our prayers and ask Mary, our Lady of Peace, to intervene before her Son so that He will give us the gift of peace. Let us take advantage of these holidays to pray for all the countries at war and for all the victims of violence and injustice.

May Mary, who has the heart of a mother, be present in all the homes that suffer and may the authors of violence, injustice and war discover the tenderness and love of Mary so that they will give up and be transformed into workers for peace.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, our Lady of Peace, pray for us and for peace in our world.

Mensaje del  P. Germán

En este camino que nos conduce a la Navidad, la Iglesia Americana nos invita a pararnos algunos días para celebrar la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

Del sábado 4 al sábado 11 de diciembre vamos a tener la novena que comienza a las 7pm con el rosario y termina con la misa y con la distribución de chocolate, champurrado y otros pasteles ofrecidos por el grupo encargado de organizar cada noche la novena.

Del lunes 6 al viernes 10 tendremos el gusto de recibir a Ernesto Vega que es responsable en la arquidiócesis de Los Angeles de la pastoral juvenil hispánica. Ernesto es un gran conocedor de la historia y de las interpretaciones de las apariciones de la Virgen de Guadalupe a Juan Diego. Ernesto nos ayudará con sus presentaciones, después de la misa, a comprender el contexto histórico y humano en el cual tuvieron lugar las apariciones. Estudiaremos también el simbolismo presente en las apariciones para comprender mejor las interrogaciones y las revelaciones del gran milagro “Guadalupano”.

El domingo 12 de diciembre la  fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe empieza a las 5 de la mañana con las mañanitas que serán cantadas por el grupo de las “Guitarras Románticas”.

De las 7:30am a las 12pm, las misas se celebrarán como de costumbre. La fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe se va a celebrar de una manera más solemne en la misa del medio día que será animada por un grupo de Mariachis.

Todos estamos invitados, por las Guadalupanas, después de la misa, a una hora de Mariachis y a compartir una buena cena.

Lo esencial de las celebraciones se realizará en español pero tendremos traducción en inglés para las personas que no comprendan el español.

El domingo 5 de diciembre, la arquidiócesis nos invita a participar en la procesión y en la mesa presidida por el arzobispo coadjutor Mgr. José H. Gomez. La procesión empieza a las 11am en la esquina de las calles Ford y Cesar Chaves en el este de Los Angeles. La misa empieza a la 1:30pm en el Estadio del Colegio de “Los Angeles East” (1301 Cesar Chavez Ave. Monterrey Park CA).

Si usted desea participar con el grupo de la parroquia, debe inscribirse en la oficina de la parroquia para reservar su puesto en el bus que pondremos a su disposición para el transporte.

OREMOS POR LA PAZ

En la fiesta de Acción de Gracias, durante el tiempo del Adviento y durante las fiestas de Navidad, quisiera invitarlos a orar particularmente por la paz en el mundo.

No duden en unirse a nosotros para reunir nuestras oraciones y pedir a maria, a Nuestra Señora de la Paz de intervenir frente a su Hijo para que Él nos ofrezca el don de la paz. Aprovechemos de estas fiestas para orar por todos los países en guerra y por todas las víctimas de la violencia y de la injusticia.

Que Maria que tiene un corazón de madre esté presente en todos los hogares que sufren y que los autores de la violencia, de la injusticia y de la guerra descubran la ternura y el amor de Maria para que abandonen las armas y se conviertan en obreros de paz.

Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Nuestra Señora de la Paz ora por nosotros y por la paz en nuestro mundo.

Feliz semana y que Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe.
