Fr German’s message
Parish activities
Last week we publicize the minutes of the
open Pastoral Council meeting on January 16th 2013.
Last week we published the minutes of the
meeting of the Pastoral Council that opened on January 16, 2013.
First of all, I want to thank the twenty
people who responded to this invitation. The three languages spoken in our
community were represented but not enough people attended to form real
committees that can take responsibility for the organization of the activities
that we wish to propose for this year 2013.
Please kindly note that:
-Our parish is not large enough and the
collection is insufficient.
-At the end of the month, we don’t have
enough money to pay all the bills.
For these reasons, we have "an
obligation" to organize regular fundraising activities to help us maintain
a balanced budget and keep the parish open.
Finances and activities of the parish depend
solely on your generosity. Your monetary contributions and the donation of your
time to the parish activities are the only sources that allow us to exist.
We all are responsible for the existence and
operation of our parish. I'm here to help build a community but I cannot build
it without your help, without your commitment, and without your active
participation.
In this year of faith, I’d like every family
to answer three questions:
1.- Do you devote enough time to the life of the parish?
2. - Does your financial participation in the
life of the parish corresponds to your economic means?
3.- Could you contribute a little bit more to
your parish?
These three questions can help you feel a
little bit more responsible for the life of the parish where you feed your
faith.
It’s important that all the baptized and the
faithful of St. Sebastian understand that we both need each other. We all need the Church to celebrate our
baptisms, our marriages, our funerals.... in other words, to celebrate the
sacraments in a Church where we find ourselves with Christ who is waiting every
Sunday to fill us with joy, love, and hope.
Thanks for your time to read this message. If
you are already committed to your parish or, if your contributions are good
enough, please accept our apologies and disregard this message.
Happy Year of Faith.
