Fr. German’s Message Once again, the false prophets were wrong. It seems that the one who announced the end of the world for Saturday, May 21, was known as a great scientist and Bible expert. But his predictions were wrong. It is not the first time that someone has announced the date of the end of the world, yet there are still people who continue believing, listening and giving money to false prophets. They use the Bible to give credence to certain propositions that have nothing to do with God’s message. Jesus tells us that “no one” knows the day nor the hour of the end of history. Jesus tells us, also, that we must be ready every day since the end of the world will come like a thief who does not inform us before he enters the house. Let us place our trust in Jesus. His message is full of love and tenderness for each of us. If we listen to His Word and follow His example, we will live in peace and joy. Let us not allow ourselves to be troubled by impostors who try to confuse us and, sometimes, to rob us. This weekend we will celebrate Pentecost, the coming of the Spirit of God upon the disciples, upon the Church and upon the world. This feast invites us to let ourselves be enlightened and guided by the Word of God and by His message. Let us return to the indispensable and abandon the propositions that will lead us nowhere. The prophets of misfortunes, who announce devastations and threaten humanity, forget that the Gospel is Good News. The feast of Pentecost should fill us with joy because God is with us. The Spirit of God dwells in our hearts, dwells in the Church, and is present in our world. Let us live each day as if it were the last. Let us take advantage of the Spirit of God Who is with us to teach us and help us to love others. Let us live in peace with all people whom we find in our lives today, and if the end of the world happens tomorrow, we will have no remorse or accounts to settle with anyone. May this feast of Pentecost bring us the light of Truth and the strength necessary to live in joy, in trust and in the peace that the Holy Spirit gives to those who accept him. Happy feast of Pentecost and have a great week Fr. Germán June 11th / 12th 2011 |
