Fr. German’s Message

On Wednesday, October 12, the parish pastoral council met with its pastor to reflect on the pastoral activities proposed to you by the parish and to plan future projects.

The pastoral council is made up of representatives of the three linguistic communities and by delegates of different movements or of existing groups in our parish. Meetings are held once quarterly.

All the members of our parish are invited and it is important that all the community feels involved in the works of the pastoral council that is at the service of the community. You can give us ideas so that the council can consider them or you can offer yourself as an active member of this council 

We need active persons, with a wealth of ideas who are ready to offer a little time in the realization of these projects. We also need your prayers; all our meetings begin with a prayer.

We count on the prayers of all the community so that, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, we can make decisions that fit the needs of the parish and so that each day we may be closer to the Lord Jesus and His Gospel.

At the last council meeting we were able to confirm the success of the “Together in Mission” campaign; the great participation in the conferences and veneration of the relics of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus that we had brought from France during the weekend of November 9-11, and the success of the third yard sale that took place on Sunday, October 2^nd.

We spoke about the Virtus program, the fingerprinting and the information relative to the protection of children that the parish is developing so that all volunteer and personnel “without exception” meet with the requirements that the Archdiocese requires in this matter.

We also spoke of the celebrations for the feast of All Saints, of All Souls’ Day and Thanksgiving Day.

On Thursday, November 24, Thanksgiving Day, we will celebrate a Eucharist in Spanish and English at 10am.  Food will be blessed at the beginning of the celebration.

The Pastoral Council launched a call to people of good will to enlarge the committee in charge of raising funds for the parish.

Let’s recall that the Christmas Boutique will take place on Sunday, December 4^th.

We covered other matters but the most important decision that the council made unanimously was that of working for the reconstruction of the rectory.

The house in which I live now is falling apart little by little. When it rains there is water that enters everywhere. The electrical system, the gas and water installations are very old and need to be changed. The condition of the house is so bad that we must think of demolishing and rebuilding it. Several experts that we have consulted are in accord in saying that we must not waste money on repairs but that we must build something new.

Therefore, we will start a campaign to build and when we have the necessary means we will begin the construction of a new rectory.

Keep this intention in your prayers and, if you know someone who can help us financially, don’t be afraid of speaking of this need.

Mensaje del  P. Germán

El miércoles 12 de octubre el consejo pastoral de la parroquia se reunió con su pastor para reflexionar sobre las actividades pastorales que la parroquia les propone y para hacer proyectos para el futuro.

El consejo pastoral está formado por representantes de las tres comunidades lingüísticas y por delegados de movimientos o de diferentes grupos existentes en nuestra parroquia. Las reuniones se realizan una vez por trimestre.

Todos los miembros de la parroquia están invitados y es importante que toda la comunidad se sienta involucrada en los trabajos del consejo pastoral que está al servicio de la comunidad. Usted puede darnos ideas para que el consejo las estudie o usted puede proponerse para como miembro activo de este consejo.

Necesitamos personas activas, ricas en ideas y listas a ofrecer un poco de tiempo en la realización de los proyectos. También necesitamos sus oraciones; todos nuestros encuentros empiezan con una oración y contamos con la oración de toda la comunidad para que iluminados por el Espíritu Santo tomemos las decisiones que convienen a la parroquia para que todos los días estemos más cerca del Señor Jesús y de su Evangelio.

El último encuentro del consejo nos permitió constatar el suceso de la campaña “Unidos en misión”; la gran participación que hubo en las conferencias y en la veneración de las reliquias de Santa Teresita del niño Jesús que hicimos venir de France durante el fin de semana del 9 al 11 de noviembre y el éxito de la 3ª venta de garaje que tuvo lugar el domingo 2 de octubre.

Hablamos del programa de Virtus, de las huellas digitales y de la información con relación a la protección de los niños que la parroquia está desarrollando para que todos los voluntarios y todo el personal “sin excepción” cumplan con los requisitos que la arquidiócesis exige en este asunto.

También hablamos de las celebraciones para las fiestas de todos los santos, de todos los difuntos y del día de acción de gracias.

El jueves 24 de noviembre, día de acción de gracias, celebraremos una Eucaristía en español e inglés a las 10am. Los alimentos serán bendecidos al inicio de la celebración.

El consejo pastoral lanzó un llamado a las buenas voluntades para aumentar el comité que se encarga de recaudar fondos para la parroquia.

Recordamos que la boutique de Navidad tendrá lugar el domingo 4 de diciembre.

Abordamos otros asuntos pero la decisión más importante que el consejo tomó por unanimidad fue la de trabajar para la reconstrucción de la casa parroquial.

La casa en la cual vivo actualmente está cayéndose poco a poco. Cuando llueve hay agua que entra por todas partes. El sistema eléctrico, las instalaciones de gas y las canalizaciones son muy viejos y necesitan ser cambiados. Las condiciones de la casa están tan malas que debemos pensar en demoler y reconstruir. Varios especialistas que hemos consultado están de acuerdo al decir que no debemos gastar dinero en reparar sino que hay que construir algo nuevo.

Entonces, vamos a comenzar una campaña para construir y cuando tengamos los medios necesarios empezaremos la construcción de una nueva casa parroquial.

Conserven esta intención en sus oraciones y si conocen a alguien que pueda ayudarnos económicamente, no teman hablar de esta necesidad.
