Fr. German’s Message
November is marked by the feast of All Saints on the first and by the
feast of All Souls on the second.
It seems to me that the feast of All Saints is a little overlooked
because of the feast of All Souls.
We have all lost someone in our family and so it is natural that on the
feast of all souls we would think of them, pray for them and go to a church, a
cemetery or columbarium to thank the
Lord for the life of our relatives who have gone before us.
With the commemoration of the dead, many questions about death come to
mind and remain without an answer. But, for us Christians, one hope encourages
us: death is not the end of everything; after this difficult passage we will
find Him who loves us and waits for us.
Let us place our trust in the words of our Lord which He conveys to us
in the Bible: no one has returned from the dead except Christ who rose in the
midst of them. All the stories that we hear about persons who speak of passing
through a tunnel….are simply stories of people who have been near death but
were not yet dead. Let’s not let ourselves be deceived by charlatans who take
advantage of human suffering in order to obtain money or attribute to
themselves supernatural powers.
During this month of November I would like us to think of the feast of
All Saints. Many are those who have preceded us and have lived lives of
holiness.
Numerous are those who have followed Christ despite their weaknesses and
the struggles linked to their humanity
In the whole world, in every country, there have been, and still exist
to this day, a multitude of men and women who have decided to live in love.
You and I know men and women of all ages and of all countries who
captivate us with the look of purity, of goodness, of love, and of holiness
But, what I would like us to discover, during this month of November, is
that you and I are capable of being saints.
In our hearts there is an amount of love that only waits to be shared.
In the depth of ourselves is the Spirit of God that can revitalize our actions
and our words if we let God speak and act in our lives. You and I, all of us
are potential saints. We can be saints and I assure you that it is not
dangerous.
I am not a saint yet but I have met many saints in my life and would
like to be like them.
Let us take advantage of this month of November to take the path of the
saints and if you are going faster than others, pray for
us so that we will all walk the same path.
We need many saints on earth to build peace, justice and happiness in
the world.
Have a great week.
