Fr. German’s Message

 

On Sunday, September 13 we are going to have a garage sale in the parish parking lot.   This will surely be a time of getting to know new parishioners and a time to enjoy each other's company.  Our three linguistic communities (Spanish, English, and French) will come together to buy donated items, to enjoy a small meal, and above all get to know those who we see each week before or after mass.

Community is built by getting together in different ways, thanks to the good will and work of all for the one goal. 

Since June, we have had a group from the three individual communities reflect upon and organize activities in order to better collect the funds necessary for the survival of the parish.

The Sisters have already moved into and their convent as it was completely restored and furnished.  It was our desire to find them a house that was simple, clean, beautiful, and in good working order.   The presence of the Sisters in the parish is blessing that the Lord has given us.   We, therefore, have the obligation to help them so that their vocations will flourish and see to it that they are happy here among us.  Thank you to all those who helped welcome them and have gotten to know them and shown them around.

Recently, we have put up a small bungalow behind the church in order for the Guadelupanos to be able to keep their supplies for sale every second Sunday of the month.    The benefit of this presence is vital to the church.

In the foreseen upcoming expenses is the purchase of a vehicle and the construction of a multiuse facility.  With the restoration of the convent, we have lost the rooms once available to us for catechism.  We need to be able to welcome children, young people, and adults to come together each week to better know Jesus.  This year we have over 180 enrolled in our catechesis program. 

We have redone the fences of the 2 parking areas and the parish yard.  The lights in the church are finally functioning correctly and all doors are now secured.

We have now only to work to find a good sound technician to finalize our sound system.   It is important that everyone attending be able to hear clearly the prayers, music, readings, homely, and consecration during mass.  Please be patient.  We will soon have a working sound system. 

Therefore, please don't be surprised if we are suggesting more activities to raise money this year in order to meet our financial needs. Thank you for your understanding and patience as well as your generosity.   Let us be grateful for the many things that we have received freely from our brothers and sisters in Christ:  The Church, the rectory, the parking areas, and office complex.  We should care for that which we has been entrusted to us and think about ensuring their continuation for the future generations of our parish.

Mensaje del P. Germán

El domingo 13 vamos a tener en el parqueadero de la casa parroquial la venta de garaje y espero que aprovechemos de ese día para conocer nuevas personas y para vivir una experiencia intercomunitaria. Las 3 comunidades lingüísticas (español, inglés y francés) se van a encontrar para hacer sus compras, para compartir el desayuno o el almuerzo y sobre todo para conocer las personas que cruzamos cada domingo al inicio o a la salida de cada una de las misas.

La comunidad se construye también en el encuentro, gracias a la amistad y al trabajo de unos y otros por mismo objetivo.

Desde el mes de junio nació un grupo de miembros de las 3 comunidades para reflexionar y para organizar las actividades para recoger los fondos necesarios para continuar las actividades de la parroquia.  

Las hermanas ya están viviendo en medio de nosotros. El convento fue restaurado y equipado. Quisimos que tuvieran una casa simple pero limpia, bonita y funcional. La presencia de las hermanas en la parroquia es una bendición que el Señor nos dio y tenemos la obligación de ayudar a las hermanas a realizar su vocación y a que vivan felices en nuestra comunidad. Agradecemos a todas las personas que nos han ayudado a acoger a las hermanas y a hacerles descubrir la vida de la parroquia.

Instalamos un prefabricado en la parte de atrás de la iglesia para que le grupo de Guadalupanas(os) pueda guardar el material necesario que utilizan en la venta de comida de todos los segundos domingos de cada mes. Les recuerdo que el beneficio de esta vente es integralmente para la parroquia.

En los gastos previstos debemos comprar un carro y tenemos que construir una sala multifuncional. Con la restauración del convento perdimos algunas salas de catecismo. Tenemos que recibir en un lugar adaptado los niños, los jóvenes y los adultos que se reúnen cada semana para conocer mejor a Jesús. Tenemos aproximadamente 180 inscritos en los programas de catecismo.

Cambiamos las rejas de los parqueaderos y del jardín de las oficinas.

La luz de la iglesia al fin funciona correctamente y las puertas ya son seguras. Nos falta todavía la reparación de los micrófonos y de los parlantes de la iglesia. Necesitamos un buen técnico. En la pastoral es importante que todos puedan escuchar y comprender las oraciones, las lecturas, la música, la homilía y todo lo que se pasa en la liturgia. Paciencia. Dentro de poco tendremos un buen sistema de sonorización.

Con todo esto, no se sorprendan si en este año les proponemos varias actividades para poder pagar las facturas cuando los trabajos sean realizados. Les agradecemos su colaboración y su generosidad. No olvidemos que recibimos gratuitamente de nos hermanos y hermanas que nos precedieron (la iglesia, la casa parroquia, la escuela, los parqueaderos y las oficinas), debemos hacer el mantenimiento de lo que nuestros antepasados nos legaron y debemos pensar a lo que vamos a dejar detrás de nosotros para las generaciones que vienen.
