Fr German’s message THE MISSION 2022 Since I arrived at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Church entrusted me with the administration of the Parish of Saint Sebastian, I have always insisted that we participate in all the collections that the Archdiocese asks us to do each year to participate in solidarity. There are about twelve second collections (not counting the collections we organize to reach the amount that Together in Mission asks us each year) that we must make during the year. These are some: - For missions with the Indians and Blacks of the United States. - For the Church in Latin America. - For retired priests of the Archdiocese. - For retired religious men and women of the archdiocese. - For the Cardinal McIntyre charity fund. - For the communities living in the Holy Land. - For the Pope's works of charity. - For the universal mission. - For a particular mission. In addition to these collections, we have participated in the solidarity of the Church of Los Angeles in natural disasters or in exceptional situations such as the war in Ukraine or the fire at Our Lady of Paris. Christians must be an example of solidarity, and this is the reason why every time there is a second collection, I insist that everyone can participate to the best of their ability. On October 15 and 16 we will have a second collection to help the mission in India. Last year we raised $1,040.00 for another particular mission. On November 5 and 6 we will have a second collection to participate in the universal mission of the Church. Last year we collected $1,331.00 to participate in the Universal mission of the Church. Indeed, we have two collections for the mission. The first is for a particular mission that the archdiocese assigns us each year and the second is to participate in the universal mission of the Church. The Church is missionary in its essence. She does not exist to enclose herself, but to go out. To go beyond her borders, to go and offer the Good News to the extremities of the earth and to offer help to people who suffer in all the peripheries. The beauty of the Church is found in her ability to help those in need, even non-believers. Let us not forget that we have freely received and that we should freely give. Germán LA MISIÓN 2022 Desde que llegué a la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles y que la Iglesia me confió la administración de la Parroquia de San Sebastián, siempre he insistido en que participemos en todas las colectas, que la Arquidiócesis nos solicita cada año, para manifestar nuestra solidaridad. Hay más o menos doce segundas colectas (sin contar las colectas para alcanzar el monto que Together in Mission nos solicita cada año) que debemos realizar durante el año. Estas son algunas: - Para las misiones con los indios y personas de color de Estados Unidos. - Para la Iglesia en América Latina. - Para los sacerdotes de la Arquidiócesis retirados. - Para los religiosos y religiosas de la arquidiócesis retirados. - Para el fondo de caridad del Cardenal McIntyre. - Para las comunidades que viven en Tierra Santa. - Para las obras de caridad del Papa. - Para la misión universal. - Para una misión en particular. Además de esas colectas hemos participado en la solidaridad de la Iglesia de los Ángeles, debido a catástrofes naturales o en situaciones excepcionales como la guerra en Ucrania o el incendio de Nuestra Señora de Paris. Los cristianos deben ser un ejemplo de solidaridad y esta es la razón por la cual cada vez que hay una segunda colecta, yo insisto para que todos puedan participar en la medida de sus capacidades. El 15 y 16 de octubre, vamos a tener una segunda colecta para ayudar la misión en India. El año pasado obtuvimos $ 1,040.00 para otra misión particular. El 5 y 6 de noviembre tendremos una segunda colecta, para participar en la misión universal de la Iglesia. El año pasado colectamos $ 1,331.00 para participar en la misión Universal de la Iglesia. Efectivamente, tenemos dos colectas para la misión. La primera es para una misión particular, que la Arquidiócesis nos asigna cada año y la segunda es para participar en la misión universal de la Iglesia. La Iglesia es misionera en su esencia. No existe para encerrarse en sí misma, sino para salir. Para ir fuera de sus fronteras, proponiendo en todos los rincones de la Tierra la Buena Nueva y ofreciendo ayuda a las personas que sufre en todas las periferias. La belleza de la Iglesia se encuentra en su capacidad de ayudar, a todos aquellos que lo necesitan, incluso a los no creyentes. No olvidemos que hemos recibido gratis y que debemos dar gratis.
