Before 2021 Holy Week

Last year we were confined during Holy Week. The churches were closed, and we had celebrations without people. Christians and parishes quickly organized to celebrate Holy Week through Facebook and YouTube and thus allow all parishioners to participate in the celebrations.

In last year's message, a week before Easter, (to read that message click here) I invited you to seriously celebrate Holy Week. In that message I gave three reasons:

(1) because to fight against the coronavirus we need God.

(2) because we must thank the personnel who work in the field of health, and

(3) because it is urgent to work on building fraternity throughout the world.

In this year 2021, the conditions to celebrate Holy Week are better.

We have the right to open churches, and we can also have celebrations outside the church.

A good part of the population has been vaccinated.

We know the virus better, and we have learned to protect ourselves and others.

Let us thank God for those positive points that allow us to celebrate Holy Week in 2021 in a little more “normal” way.

In this year, I invite you to celebrate the “Pascal Triduum” (Thursday, Friday and Easter Vigil/Day) in the school parking lot.

We are very lucky with the ideal weather that allows us to have celebrations outside. We are also privileged to have a parking lot adapted now so that in our celebrations there may be people who participate sitting under a tent and others who prefer to stay in their car and follow the celebration live (we have very powerful speakers) or by radio inside the car (FM 83.3. You must be inside or near the parking lot) or on Facebook or YouTube.

On Holy Thursday we will have the celebration of the Last Supper of the Lord at 3pm. There will be no foot washing to avoid movements and to respect the sanitary restrictions recommended by health specialists. This celebration will be extended with an hour of adoration to the Blessed Sacrament.

On Good Friday we will celebrate the Passion of the Lord at 3pm. In this celebration we will remember and pray for all the deceased of the year, victims or not of the coronavirus, who left without having had a real funeral. We will pray for them and for their families who had a very difficult beginning of grief.

Easter Vigil will take place at 3pm. And in that celebration, we will accompany the adults, children and young people who are going to receive the sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation).

On Easter day we will have the great Easter Mass at 10am.

We will also celebrate some baptisms in that Eucharist.

I know that many baptized people wait for the Holy Week celebrations to feel close to God, to live with the Christian community the strong moments of the life of Jesus, to receive the blessing of the Church in those solemn days that lead us to the resurrection of Christ, and to go to the world enlightened and fortified by the victory of Jesus over death, darkness, and evil.

A place awaits you. You are important to our community. We will be happy to see you with us.

Antes de la Semana Santa del 2021

El año pasado, estuvimos confinados durante la Semana Santa. Las iglesias estaban cerradas y tuvimos celebraciones sin fieles. Rápidamente los cristianos y las parroquias se organizaron, para celebrar la Semana Santa por medio de Facebook y YouTube permitiendo así a todos los feligreses, de participar en las celebraciones.

En el mensaje del año pasado, una semana antes de la Semana Santa, (para leer ese mensaje haga clic aquí) los invitaba a celebrar seriamente la Semana Santa.  En ese mensaje daba tres razones:

1.- porque para luchar contra el coronavirus, necesitamos a Dios

2.- porque debemos agradecer al personal que trabaja en el dominio de la salud

3.- porque es urgente trabajar en la construcción de la fraternidad, en el mundo entero.

En este año 2021, las condiciones para celebrar la Semana Santa son mejores.

Tenemos derecho de abrir las iglesias y también podemos tener celebraciones al exterior de la iglesia.

Una buena parte de la población ha sido vacunada.

Conocemos mejor el virus y hemos aprendido a protegernos y a proteger a los demás.

Demos gracias a Dios por esos puntos positivos, que nos permiten celebrar la Semana Santa del 2021 de una manera un poco más “normal”.

En este año, los invito a celebrar el “Triduo Pascal” (Jueves, Viernes y Vigilia/Dia de Pascua) en el estacionamiento de la escuela. 

Tenemos mucha suerte con el clima ideal, que nos permite tener celebraciones al exterior.

Somos privilegiados también, al contar con un estacionamiento adaptado, para que en nuestras celebraciones pueda haber personas que participan sentadas debajo de una carpa, otras que prefieren quedarse en su carro y seguir la celebración en directo (tenemos parlantes muy poderosos) o por radio, al interior del carro (FM 83.3 deben estar al interior del estacionamiento o cerca de éste) o por Facebook o YouTube.

El Jueves Santo, tendremos la celebración de la Última Cena del Señor a las 3pm. No habrá el Lavado de pies, para evitar los movimientos y respetar las restricciones sanitarias, recomendadas por los especialistas de la salud. Esta celebración se prolongará con una hora de adoración al Santísimo Sacramento.

El Viernes Santo, celebraremos la Pasión del Señor a las 3pm. En esta celebración haremos memoria y oraremos por todos los difuntos del año, víctimas o no del coronavirus, que se fueron sin haber tenido un verdadero funeral. Oraremos por ellos y sus familias, que tuvieron un inicio de duelo muy difícil.

La Vigilia Pascual tendrá lugar a las 3p.m En esa celebración acompañaremos a los adultos, niños y jóvenes que van a recibir, los sacramentos de la Iniciación Cristiana (Bautismo, Eucaristía y Confirmación).

El día de Pascua, tendremos la gran Misa de Pascua a las 10am.

Celebraremos también algunos bautizos en esa Eucaristía.

Sé que muchos bautizados esperan las celebraciones de la Semana Santa, para sentirse cerca de Dios.  Para vivir con la comunidad cristiana los momentos fuertes de la vida de Jesús. Para recibir la bendición de la Iglesia en esos días solemnes, que nos conducen a la Resurrección de Cristo. Para ir al mundo iluminados y fortificados por la victoria de Jesús sobre la muerte, las tinieblas y el mal.

Un lugar los espera. Usted es importante para nuestra comunidad. Estaremos felices de verlos con nosotros.
