The entire world has been moved by the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Expressions of condolences, thanks for his life, and sympathy reached Rome from all over the world, including countries that do not host many Christians or are hostile to the presence of believers in their territory. The leaders of the entire world and those responsible for the great religions of our planet salute the memory and regret the passing of a great theologian and intellectual who knew how to remain humble. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI did not go unnoticed in this world. He was a personality in religion, in the Catholic Church, in the other Churches, in the scientific world, in culture and in the artistic world. Benedict was a high-level intellectual, a man who possessed an extraordinary general culture, a very fine artist, and an unconditional disciple of Christ. The intellectuals and men and women of culture who heard about this Pope surely read the words he addressed to them in 2008. On September 12, 2008, he addressed 700 people, believers or not, and atheists gathered at the "Bernardins" college in Paris. Representatives of culture and art. El mundo entero se ha conmovido por la muerte del Papa Emérito Benedicto XVI. Las manifestaciones de condolencias, agradecimientos por su vida y simpatía llegaron a Roma provenientes de todos los países del mundo, incluso de países que no acogen a muchos cristianos o que han sido hostiles, a la presencia de creyentes en su territorio. Los dirigentes del mundo entero y los responsables de las grandes religiones de nuestro planeta saludaron la memoria y lamentaron la desaparición de un gran teólogo e intelectual que supo mantenerse humilde. El Papa Emérito Benedicto XVI no pasó desapercibido en este mundo. Fue una personalidad en la religión, en la Iglesia Católica, en las otras Iglesias, en el mundo científico, en la cultura y en el mundo artístico. Benedicto era un intelectual de gran nivel, un hombre que poseía una cultura general extraordinaria, un artista muy fino y un incondicional discípulo de Cristo. Los intelectuales, hombres y mujeres de la cultura que oyeron hablar de ese Papa, seguramente leyeron las palabras que les dirigió en el 2008. Ese gran teólogo quería decirle al mundo que lo más importante en la vida de todo creyente no es ni la moral, ni la liturgia, ni el derecho canónico. El principio y el fin de nuestra fe se encuentra en esa gran verdad: Dios es amor. En el 2007 escribió “Spe Salvi” Salvados por la Esperanza “. Un hermoso mensaje casi desconocido y poco leído, que recuerda a este mundo que vive con miedo (de los demás y del futuro) que la esperanza es uno de los pilares de la fe cristiana. Que es esencial en el camino de la salvación, en el camino hacia Dios. La tercera encíclica publicada el día de la fiesta de San Pedro y San Pablo, el 29 de junio del 2009, “Caritas in Veritate”. La Caridad en la Verdad reutiliza muchos temas de la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia. Nos recuerda que no puede haber desarrollo durable, estable y benéfico para la humanidad, si la dignidad humana no es respetada en todas las decisiones. El 11 de febrero del 2013, Benedicto XVI anuncia que la Sede de San Pedro estará vacante a partir del 25 febrero del 2013 a las 8pm. Lección de humildad para todos, sobre todo, para aquellos que se aferran al poder o que se creen indispensables en el buen funcionamiento de la sociedad. En estos ocho años de Papa Emérito mostró, a su sucesor y al mundo entero su discreción, su humildad y su amor por la Iglesia. Aún conservo el recuerdo de una vez que lo encontré en Roma, cuando yo estaba en formación y él no era todavía Papá. En su testamento dice: “Consérvense firmes en la fe”. Conservemos esas palabras en nuestros corazones, como el consejo de ese gran Papa y transmitámoslas a nuestros hijos para que no se dejen devorar por el mundo secularizado que es el nuestro.
