Be honest

Occasionally it is good to speak about various things happening in the community.

I like these things when they are positive and when they are an example for us all.

Here is what happened in our parish.

On a Sunday last month, the church was full for all masses because of first communions.

One person forgot his wallet in his seat after he used it to participate in the Sunday offering.

There was money in the wallet ($260.00), his ID card and other documents.

This happened at the 10:30 am mass.

At the end of the noon mass, on the same day, a parishioner came to the sacristy to put the wallet he had found on the bench.

We received it and called the wallet’s owner on the microphone. But he was not present.

So, we kept it.

The next day, the person who had lost his wallet called us to ask if we had found it.

He was very worried because he needed the money for a trip that he was going to take during the week, but most of all because he needed his ID to be able to fly to New York to visit his son. He told us that if he did not find his ID card, he would have to cancel the trip that he had been planning for some time.

When we told him, we had found his wallet and that everything was inside, he thanked us warmly and thanked the Lord.

We don’t know who found this wallet and turned it in to us.

We would like to thank that person publicly and say that we are praying that the Lord give him a blessing for this beautiful gesture of honesty.

When we find something that does not belong to us, it must be returned. Perhaps tomorrow we will lose something important, and somebody will find it, and will do the same thing that we have done.

Being honest is beautiful. We need to live with honest people around us so we can live in peace.

Taking something that does not belong to us, big or small, is stealing.

Thank you, Lord, for all the honest people that we know, and let’s pray for those who have the vice of taking those things that do not belong to them.

Ser honesto

De vez en cuando es bueno hablar de hechos diversos en la comunidad.

Me gustan los hechos diversos cuando son positivos y cuando son un ejemplo para todos.

He aquí lo que sucedió en nuestra parroquia.

Un domingo del mes pasado, la iglesia estuvo totalmente llena, durante todas las misas, debido a las primeras comuniones.

Una persona olvidó su billetera en el lugar donde se encontraba, después de haberla utilizado para participar en la colecta dominical.

En la billetera había dinero ($ 260,00), su tarjeta de identidad y otros documentos.

Eso sucedió en la misa de las 10:30am.

Al final de la misa del medio día, del mismo día, una persona vino a la sacristía para depositar la billetera, que había encontrado en su asiento.

La recibimos y llamamos por micrófono a la persona que la había perdido.  Pero nadie se presentó.

Al día siguiente, la persona que había perdido su billetera nos llamó por teléfono para preguntarnos si la habíamos encontrado.

Estaba muy preocupada, ya que necesitaba su dinero para un viaje que debía realizar durante la semana, pero sobre todo porque necesitaba su tarjeta de identidad para poder tomar el avión para visitar a su hijo en Nueva York. Nos dijo que, si no encontraba su tarjeta de identidad, estaba obligada a anular ese viaje que había preparado desde hacía un cierto tiempo.

Cuando le dijimos que habíamos encontrado su billetera y que todo estaba al interior, nos agradeció calurosamente y le dio gracias a Dios.

No conocemos a la persona que encontró la billetera y que nos la entregó.

Queremos agradecerle públicamente y decirle que oramos al Señor para que la bendiga por ese hermoso gesto de honestidad.

Cuando encontramos algo que no nos pertenece tenemos que devolverlo. Tal vez mañana, vamos a perder algo importante que alguien lo encontrará y hará lo mismo que nosotros hicimos.

Ser honesto es muy bonito. Necesitamos vivir con personas honestas para poder vivir en paz.

Tomar algo que no nos pertenece, pequeño o grande, es un robo.

Gracias Señor por todas las personas honestas que conocemos y oremos por todos aquellos que tienen el vicio de tomar lo que no les pertenece.
