Fr German’s message

Thank you to Fr Yves.

 

 

A few weeks ago, Father Yves announced to me that he was returning to France for vacation and that he was not sure whether he would come back to Los Angeles.

Yves is a Jesuit, professor of philosophy at UCLA, and depends on his superiors who have not yet entrusted him with the mission that he must carry out next year.

Since his arrival in Los Angeles, Fr. Yves contacted me and immediately proposed to help the three linguistic communities of our parish.

For our community it is very important to have a priest who speaks the three languages ​​that we use every Sunday in the liturgy (Spanish, French and English). Yves knows those three languages ​​very well.

Despite all the time that he must devote to preparing his classes in English, which is not his mother tongue, and in the accompaniment of his students, he had time to take charge of preaching at Mass on some Sundays and agreed to preside over some Masses, when he felt comfortable with the liturgy in English and Spanish. When he got here, he was still a newly ordained priest.

Yves accompanied the French catechism group this year. His indications, suggestions and his ideas were greatly appreciated by the catechists and by the parents who were then to transmit to the children the themes prepared by Fr. Yves.

A reflection group on the influence of Jesuit theology on Pope Francis' interventions was also led by Fr. Yves. The people who participated in that group conveyed to me their joy and appreciation for everything they learned in those meetings.

I was very happy to work a little with Fr. Yves, and I greatly appreciated his availability, his way of listening and his humility. For me he was like a brother, and he helped me a lot, especially in these last two years when we had the obligation to adapt to so many new things.

Thank you, Yves, for your fraternal help.

May the Lord continue to fill you with blessings so that you can continue to fulfill, with joy and competence, the mission that the Church entrusts to you.

We do not know where your superiors are going to send you, but we can tell you that the doors of Saint Sebastian will always be open. And if one day you return to Los Angeles, you can return to our community, and we will be happy to welcome you.

Mensaje del P. Germán

Gracias al P. Yves.

 

 

Hace algunas semanas, el Padre Yves me anunció que regresaba a Francia por vacaciones y que no estaba seguro de volver a Los Ángeles.

El P. Yves es jesuita, profesor de filosofía en UCLA y depende de sus superiores, que todavía no le han confiado la misión que debe realizar el próximo año.

Desde su llegada a Los Ángeles (en septiembre 2019), el P. Yves se puso en contacto conmigo e inmediatamente se propuso para ayudar las tres comunidades lingüísticas de nuestra parroquia.

Para nuestra comunidad es muy importante tener un sacerdote que habla las tres lenguas que utilizamos todos los domingos en la liturgia (español, francés e inglés). P. Yves conoce muy bien esos tres idiomas.

A pesar de todo el tiempo que debe consagrar a la preparación de sus clases en inglés, que no es su lengua materna, y en el acompañamiento de sus estudiantes, tuvo tiempo para encargarse de predicar en la misa de algunos domingos y aceptó presidir algunas misas cuando se sintió confortable con la liturgia en inglés y en español. Cuando llegó aquí era todavía un sacerdote recién ordenado (26 de mayo del 2019).

P. Yves acompañó, durante este año, el grupo de catecismo en francés. Sus indicaciones, sugestión y sus ideas fueron muy apreciadas por los catequistas y por los padres de familia que debían transmitir luego a los niños los temas preparados por el P. Yves.

Un grupo de reflexión sobre la influencia de la teología jesuita en las intervenciones del Papa Francisco, también fue animado por el P. Yves. Las personas que participaron en ese grupo me  transmitieron su alegría y reconocimiento por todo lo que aprendieron en esos encuentros.

Estuve muy contento de trabajar un poco con el P. Yves y aprecié bastante su disponibilidad, su manera de escuchar y su humildad. Para mí fue como un hermano y me ayudó bastante, sobre todo en estos dos últimos años que tuvimos la obligación de adaptarnos a tantas cosas nuevas.

Gracias Yves por tu ayuda fraterna.

Que el Señor siga llenandote de bendiciones para que puedas seguir cumpliendo, con alegría y competencia, la misión que la Iglesia te confía.  

No sabemos a donde te van a enviar tus superiores, pero podemos decirte que las puertas de San Sebastián estarán siempre abiertas y si algún día regresas a Los Ángeles, puedes regresar a nuestra comunidad y estaremos felices de recibirte.
