The Mass 1^st part.

A few days ago, during a meal, someone asked me: Why to go to Mass?

This question seems very interesting to me, and I believe that every Christian should reflect on the reasons he has for going to Mass.

Discovering the importance of attending Mass can help some of us to get up on Sunday and rejoice because in their neighborhood or city there is a Mass in their language and in which we are going to find God who awaits us and people who, like us, seek happiness.

We can also talk about the content of the Mass, the external form or the type of liturgy that we prefer. Let's leave this topic for later. Let's begin to participate in the Mass and then we can look together for elements that can be changed or improved so that we can be more involved in the celebration.

For my part, I believe that there are many reasons, both in the Bible, as well as in the Tradition of the Church and in the history of humanity, to affirm that the Mass is indispensable in the life of all the disciples of Christ.

I would like to talk about some reasons that seem important to me to affirm that we should go to Mass as often as possible and, in any case, at least once a week, on Sundays.

- To meet Christ.

- To feed our faith.

- To show our belonging to a community.

- To rest.

- To give thanks to God.

Let's look at the first two reasons today and leave the other three for next week.

To meet Christ. At Mass we meet Christ in a privileged way. He told us: “Do this in memory of me. (Lk 22,19). He is present in the readings. He is present in the Eucharist (the bread and the wine) that we share. He is present in the community that is the Body of Christ present in society and that is made up of members of all origins. He is particularly present in the building called the church. He waits for us to listen to us and speak to us.

To feed our faith. If we do not feed faith, it withers, disappears, or turns into fanaticism or superstition. Our faith needs to be nourished by the Word of God and the explanations that the Church gives us. In the homily, the Church guides us to welcome the Word of God in today's life and in the place where we find ourselves. It is an illusion to think that we can have faith if we do not live in contact with a community that always reminds us of the true face of God to help us avoid building our own god. She helps us reject the image of a god who adapts to our desires and our needs to show us the true face of God who invites us to live a life like that of Jesus.

La Misa 1ª parte

Hace algunos días, durante una comida, alguien me preguntó: ¿Por qué ir a Misa?

Esta pregunta me parece muy interesante, creo que todo cristiano debería reflexionar sobre las razones que tiene para ir a Misa.

Descubrir la importancia de acudir a Misa, podría ayudar a algunos de entre nosotros, a levantarse el domingo y alegrarse porque en su barrio o ciudad, hay Misa en su idioma y en la cual vamos a encontrar a Dios que nos espera y personas que, como nosotros, buscan la felicidad.

Podemos hablar también sobre el contenido de la Misa, la forma externa o el tipo de liturgia que preferimos. Dejemos este tema para más adelante. Comencemos a participar en la Misa y luego podemos buscar juntos elementos que se pueden cambiar o mejorar para que podamos estar más involucrados en la celebración.

Por mi parte, creo que hay muchas razones, tanto en la Biblia, como en la Tradición de la Iglesia y en la historia de la humanidad, para afirmar que la Misa es indispensable en la vida de todos los discípulos de Cristo.

Me gustaría hablar de algunas razones que me parecen importantes para afirmar que debemos ir a Misa lo más frecuentemente posible y, en todo caso, al menos una vez a la semana, los domingos.

- Para encontrar a Cristo

- Para alimentar nuestra fe

- Para manifestar nuestra pertenencia a una comunidad.

- Para descansar

- Para dar gracias a Dios.

Veamos hoy las dos primeras razones y dejemos para la próxima semana las tres otras.

Para encontrar a Cristo. En Misa nos encontramos con Cristo de manera privilegiada. Él nos dijo: “Hagan esto en memoria mía. (Lc 22,19). Está presente en las lecturas, está presente en la Eucaristía (el pan y el vino) que compartimos. Está presente en la comunidad que es el Cuerpo de Cristo presente en la sociedad y que se compone de miembros de todos los orígenes. Está presente particularmente en el edificio llamado iglesia. Él nos espera para escucharnos y hablarnos.

Para alimentar nuestra fe. Si no alimentamos la fe, se marchita, desaparece o se convierte en fanatismo o superstición. Nuestra fe necesita ser alimentada por la Palabra de Dios y las explicaciones que nos da la Iglesia. En la homilía, la Iglesia nos orienta para acoger la Palabra de Dios, en la vida de hoy y en el lugar donde nos encontramos. Es una ilusión pensar que podemos tener fe, si no vivimos en contacto con una comunidad que siempre nos recuerda el verdadero rostro de Dios, ayudándonos a evitar construir nuestro propio dios. Nos ayuda a rechazar la imagen de un dios que se adapta a nuestros deseos y a nuestras necesidades para mostrarnos el verdadero rostro de Dios que nos invita a vivir una vida semejante a la de Jesús.
