Fr German’s message Let us go back
On Monday, March 1, the teachers from our school returned to be present at the school even though the students have not returned yet. Classes will continue to be held online, but we are preparing the return of all students with an established schedule to gradually open the school and return to in-person teaching. All students dream of seeing their teachers and friends again. I believe that the vast majority of parents also want their children to return to teaching in person. When students will be able to return, we will continue with distance learning for families who prefer to wait a bit before sending their children to school. This is a good step forward in this time of a pandemic. The services in charge of public health, the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the school principal, and myself I want to thank, once again, the school staff. From the beginning of this crisis, they stood up to face the challenges that the Virus has imposed on us without warning us. I would like to express my admiration for the parents who immediately committed themselves to the new way of teaching. Many of you have been forced to learn new techniques in order to continue accompanying your children in distance learning. I am very impressed by the resilience of all the students. All have demonstrated their ability to adapt, their desire to learn, and their ambition to continue growing in all aspects of their life. I have prayed a lot for all of you and I continue to carry you in my prayers. Now we are also reflecting on the reopening of the church. There are very many people who have expressed their desire, or rather, the need to return to their church. From now on I invite you to do projects so that the return is carried out with joy. If you have ideas to prepare for the return, do not hesitate to share them with us. We need your creativity. Invite your friends and family so that the day we can open, we will be very numerous so that our community can restart its activities. You are important to us. I see your faces at Mass every day. I remember each of you and the families who attended our church before the pandemic. I miss you. I don’t see many of you since we have been forced to be at home to prevent the spread of the virus. We have many projects so that the return takes place safely and with joy. I am reflecting on different proposals so that we can meet, as soon as possible, to celebrate the “post-Covid” together. And if Covid will always be with us, we will celebrate the pleasure of finding ourselves having learned to live with the virus. We are going to reopen the Church and it will be a moment of joy for all. At the time of reopening, we will also organize a celebration to remember all the people who have left us because of the virus or another disease and to whom we could not say goodbye as we would have liked to. As we await the return to a social life with schools and churches open, let us continue to pray for each other. Let us continue to take care of vulnerable people and continue to use the hygiene measures that we have developed in this time of pandemic. Until I will have the pleasure of seeing you again. El lunes 1º de marzo, los profesores de nuestra escuela regresaron para estar presentes en la escuela, a pesar de que los estudiantes no han regresado todavía. Las clases seguirán impartiéndose a través de internet, pero estamos preparando el regreso de todos los estudiantes con un calendario establecido, para abrir poco a poco la escuela y regresar a una enseñanza en persona. Todos los estudiantes sueñan con volver a ver, a sus profesores y amigos. Creo que la gran mayoría de padres de familia desean también, que sus hijos regresen a la enseñanza en persona. Cuando los estudiantes puedan regresar, seguiremos con la enseñanza a distancia, para las familias que prefieran esperar un poco, antes de enviar a sus hijos, a la escuela. Este es un paso hacia adelante, en este tiempo de pandemia. Los servicios de salud pública, la arquidiócesis de los Ángeles, la directora de la escuela y yo mismo, estaremos comunicando permanentemente, para adaptar día a día, nuestro programa de regreso a la escuela. Para que esta etapa se lleve a cabo en buenas condiciones y sobre todo, que no se ponga en peligro, el personal ni las familias. Quiero agradecer, una vez más, al personal de la escuela. Desde el inicio de esta crisis, se han mantenido de pie afrontando los desafíos, que el Virus nos ha impuesto sin prevenirnos. Quisiera expresar mi admiración por los padres de familia que se comprometieron inmediatamente, en la nueva forma de enseñar. Muchos de ustedes se han visto obligados a aprender nuevas técnicas, para poder seguir acompañando a sus hijos en la enseñanza a distancia. Estoy muy impresionado por la tenacidad de todos los estudiantes. Todos han demostrado su capacidad de adaptación, su deseo de aprender y su ambición para continuar creciendo, en todos los aspectos de su vida. He orado mucho por todos ustedes y los sigo llevando en mi oración. Ahora estamos reflexionando también, sobre la reapertura de la iglesia. Son muy numerosas las personas que han manifestado su deseo, o mejor, la necesidad de regresar a su iglesia. Desde ahora los invito a hacer proyectos, para que el regreso se realice con alegría. Si tienen ideas para preparar el regreso, no duden en compartirlas con nosotros. Necesitamos de su creatividad. Inviten a sus amistades y familia, para que el día que podamos abrir, seamos muy numerosos para que nuestra comunidad reinicie sus actividades. Ustedes son importantes para nosotros. Veo sus rostros en la Misa de todos los días. Recuerdo a cada uno de ustedes y las familias que frecuentaban nuestra iglesia antes de la pandemia. Me hace falta. No he visto a muchos de ustedes, desde que hemos sido obligados, a estar en casa para evitar la propagación del virus. Tenemos muchos proyectos para que el regreso se realice, con toda seguridad y alegría. Estoy reflexionando sobre diferentes propuestas para que poder reunirnos, lo más pronto posible, para celebrar juntos el “post-Covid”. Y si el Covid estará siempre con nosotros, celebraremos el gusto de encontrarnos, habiendo aprendido a convivir con el Virus. Vamos a volver a abrir la Iglesia y será un momento de alegría para todos. Al momento de reapertura, vamos a organizar también una celebración para hacer memoria, de todas las personas que nos han dejado a causa del virus o de otra enfermedad y a quienes no pudimos decir adiós, como hubiéramos querido hacerlo. En la espera del regreso a una vida social con las escuelas y las iglesias abiertas, sigamos orando unos por otros. Sigamos cuidando a las personas vulnerables y sigamos utilizando las medidas de higiene que hemos desarrollado en este tiempo de pandemia. Hasta que tenga el gusto de volverlos a ver. Fraternalmente.
