Fr German’s message After the Yard Sale The 6th annual parish garage sale took place on Sunday November 9th. Once more, we were successful in getting many community members together and to socialize with people who came to benefit from our activities. The daytime masses were well-attended, and after mass, people came to spend a good amount of time at the garage sale. The variety of items we sold, the diversity of the auction, and the good quality of the food made all the participants happy. Once more, our parish bore witness to its openness and to its cultural diversity. Children, teenagers, adults, and older people took advantage of the day to meet with friends and to get to know other members of the community or visitors. This year we had the pleasure of welcoming the new school principal, Mrs. McDugald. Parents and teachers from the school hosted an information booth. We are happy to note that the school has now found the person needed to help it grow. The new principal is counting on the support of all parents and all staff. The parish is also excited to be involved in the new direction the school is taking. In an upcoming bulletin I will talk to you about the plans we will implement in the school to ensure that it becomes a model school, and a unique one in the archdiocese. Several people have shared with us how happy they are to be members of our community and to participate in event where we can meet and spend time together. But nothing would have been possible if Mayra had not agreed to plan and coordinate this event. She spent a lot of time in preparation, planning, and implementation of the garage sale, and the cleanup of the parking area after the event. Thank you Mayra and may the Lord bless you for the time and energy that you have invested in the community. Thank you to all who made donations. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped Mayra. We needed many pairs of hands ready to work, and we had a very good turn-out of the members of our community. Thank you to all the teenagers who worked with Mayra to help us in the various tasks that we needed to be sure to get done. Thank you to those who spent the night from Saturday to Sunday in the parking lot to keep an eye on our items. Thank you to those who were stationed in the parking lot. Thank you to those who helped with sales. Thank you to the Guadalupanas who are always present and active in all the activities of our parish. Thank you to all of you for taking the time to spend a moment with the parish family. Events like this one are essential in the building of a Christian community. The event from that Sunday was a witness for our neighbors and for those that see us live out our lives and who do not yet know Christ. The garage sale is important, above all, for the possibility it gives to members of the community to meet. It is also important for the financial support it brings to the parish. This year we made a profit of $ 4,023.5 ($1,194 from Guadalupanas food sale; $ 303.00 from Patti Newler Pastry sale; $435.00 from Silent Auction; $430.00 from Fr Germán food; $ 1,661.50 other items). This amount will help us pay for the replacement of the church's roof. The work was started a few weeks ago and we have not yet raised the funds we need to pay it off. To everyone, thank you. Your presence and participation in the life of the community are important.
muchos visitantes vinieron a disfrutar
Mayra no hubiese aceptado organizar y
