In the weekly message of the parish bulletin of April 25, 2021, (to read the full message click here), in the messages sent by Mailchimp (if you do not receive them, check your spam list or send me your email address to register it in our mailing list) and several times in interventions during Mass or in a meeting with each other, I have shared the idea of ​​making a mosaic that we are going to place in the church to commemorate all the people we know and who went to God since November 1, 2019. That message was greatly appreciated, and I received many comments and thanks from the families affected by that drama.

The deceased people, during this pandemic, due to the corona virus or another pathology, did not have, in most cases, the right to a “normal” funeral celebration.

The families of these deceased people suffered greatly from the circumstances, sometimes inhumane, in which they had to see a loved one leave. The mosaic will be a homage to the deceased and their families.

The Feast of the Body of Christ will take place on June 5 and 6, 2021. That weekend we will welcome 46 children from our three linguistic communities and from the school, who will receive the Body of Christ for the first time.

The program of the masses that weekend is as follows:

Saturday June 5:

At 11am in Saint Sebastian church, first communion of the school children.

At 3pm in Saint Sebastian church, first communion of the children of the French-speaking community of Los Angeles.

At 6:30 pm at ALQA church in Newport Beach, first communion of the children of the French-speaking community of Orange County.

Sunday June 6:

At 10am in the school parking lot, Sunday trilingual mass

At 12 am in the school parking lot, Mass in Spanish for the first communion of the children of Saint Sebastián parish.

All the faithful are invited to pray for these children and for their families. May the first communion be the beginning, for these children, of a relationship of intimacy and trust with Jesus. May the adults help these children to participate every Sunday in the communion with God and with the Christian community.

In the homily that weekend I am going to talk about the importance of communion with others and with God. Communion that has suffered a lot because of the health crisis that we face.

In this message I invite you to also think about the communion that exists between us and the members of our families or our friends who have gone to the house of the Father before us.

The mosaic that we are going to make to commemorate the people we love and who have left during this crisis will be a testimony for the generations to come of the communion that exists between us and those who are in the hands of God.

If you have a family member or a close friend who died (due to the corona virus or another disease) since November 1, 2019 and if you want your memory to be printed in our mosaic, send us before May 30, 2021, by email (german@la-archdiocese.org) or by mail at 1453 Federal Ave. Los Angeles CA 90025, the name of the deceased, the date of death and their photo. En el mensaje semanal del boletín de la parroquia del 25 de abril del 2021, (para leer el mensaje completo haga clic aquí), en los mensajes enviados por Mailchimp (si no los recibe revise su lista de correos indeseados spams o envíeme su correo electrónico, para inscribirlo en nuestra lista de envíos). Así también, en varias ocasiones y en intervenciones durante la misa o en un encuentro con unos y otros, les he compartido la idea de hacer un mosaico, que vamos a colocar en la iglesia para hacer memoria de todas las personas que conocimos y que se fueron hacia Dios, desde el 1º de noviembre del 2019. Ese mensaje fue muy apreciado y recibí muchos comentarios y agradecimientos por parte de familias afectadas ante dicha situación.

Las personas difuntas, durante esta pandemia, a causa del coronavirus o de otra patología, no tuvieron, en la mayoría de los casos, el derecho a una celebración “normal” de funeral.

Las familias de esas personas difuntas sufrieron mucho de las circunstancias, a veces inhumanas, en las cuales tuvieron que ver irse un ser amado. El mosaico será un homenaje a los difuntos y a sus familias.

La fiesta del Cuerpo de Cristo tendrá lugar el 5 y 6 de junio del 2021. Ese fin de semana vamos a recibir 46 niños de nuestras tres comunidades lingüísticas y de la escuela, que van a recibir por primera vez el Cuerpo de Cristo.

El programa de las misas de ese fin de semana es el siguiente:

Sábado 5 de junio:

A las 11am en la iglesia San Sebastián, Primera Comunión de los niños de la escuela

A las 3pm en la iglesia San Sebastián, Primera Comunión de los niños de la comunidad de habla francés de Los Ángeles

A las 6:30pm en la iglesia ALQA de Newport Beach, Primera Comunión de los niños de la comunidad de habla francés de Orange County.

Domingo 6 de junio:

A las 10am en el estacionamiento de la escuela, Misa trilingüe dominical

A las 12pm en el estacionamiento de la escuela, Misa en español para la Primera Comunión de los niños de la parroquia San Sebastián.

Todos los fieles están invitados a orar por esos niños y por sus familias. Que la Primera Comunión sea el inicio, para esos niños, de una relación de intimidad y de confianza con Jesús. Que los adultos ayuden esos niños, a participar todos los domingos en la comunión con Dios y con la comunidad cristiana.

En la homilía de ese fin de semana voy a hablar de la importancia de la comunión con los demás y con Dios. Comunión que ha sufrido mucho a causa de la crisis sanitaria que afrontamos. Voy a hablar de la importancia fundamental de la comunión de unos con otros y con Dios.

En este mensaje los invito a pensar también en la comunión que existe entre nosotros y los miembros de nuestras familias o nos amigos, que se han ido a la Casa del Padre antes de nosotros.

El mosaico que vamos a realizar, para hacer memoria de las personas que amamos y que se han ido durante esta crisis, será un testimonio para las generaciones que vienen de la comunión que existe entre nosotros y aquellos que están en las manos de Dios.

Si usted tiene un miembro de la familia o un amigo(a) cercano que murió (a causa del corona virus o de otra enfermedad) desde el 1º de noviembre del 2019 y si desea que su recuerdo esté gravado en nuestro mosaico, envíenos antes del 30 de mayo del 2021, por email (german@la-archdiocese.org) o por correo al 1453 Federal Ave. Los Angeles CA 90025, el nombre del difunto, la fecha de la muerte y su foto.
