Fr German’s message

Welcome back.

Summer Vacation is almost over and society is beginning to prepare to welcome people returning from vacation to their workplaces and schools. The school and the Saint Sebastian parish have also begun to prepare to welcome the staff, students, parents and the faithful who return to the community.

Our school has many new families that have enrolled their children this year. Welcome to all you.

We are happy to welcome you and we hope you have taken advantage of this time to gather strength and to make beautiful plans for this new year that we will start together.

Every year is different, but this year 2021-2022 I will be even more different from the others. We are emerging from the pandemic and during this difficult time we have learned many things.

I would say that the most important lesson that this crisis has taught us is that we have an enormous capacity to adapt. We have been forced to adapt, to change our way of life, to find new ways to work and to learn to use techniques and devices that helped us to continue our activities. Congratulations to all the people who were not afraid to discover new ways of acting and living. Congratulations to all the people who put themselves at the service of others to help them to change.

Another lesson we learned is the importance of solidarity. I have never had so many testimonies of solidarity between generations, between neighbors and between families from different social environments. Several people who had received a solidarity check from the state asked me for the name of a family in difficulty to offer their check to someone more in need than them. What a beautiful lesson in brotherhood.

Now that we return to “almost normal” life, we cannot forget the beautiful things that we learned during this time.

The school and the parish will be here to remind you that we must always stand up. That we must always adapt and fight for a better way of living. The school and the parish are here to always remind you that fraternity is a value that we must defend and live in all our relationships.

The Covid Memorial that we started to carry out is almost finished. We still have 3 places for 3 people who have died of covid or another raison since November 2019. The mosaic will be placed in the church next to the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and we will have an inauguration and blessing Mass of the mosaic when it is finished.

Starting on August 28, we will have a Mass in English, one in Spanish, and one in French every weekend.

We hope that all the people who no longer came to mass for fear of covid can return. Now that most of the faithful have been vaccinated, we can feel a little more secure. Although everything is not over, we can return to mass. We strictly respect health regulations and encourage all the faithful to receive the vaccine. For the last two months, all the people I have seen with covid are people who have not received the vaccine. The vaccine is the only effective weapon we have today to stop the spread of the virus.

Welcome everyone, and don't forget to help us invite the people you know to return to Mass and distribute the weekly message and homily that we send by email or by the post office.

Bienvenidos

Las vacaciones se han casi terminado y la sociedad empieza a prepararse para recibir en sus lugares de trabajo y en las escuelas, a la gente que regresa de vacaciones. La escuela y la parroquia San Sebastian han empezado a preparase también, para recibir el personal, los estudiantes, los padres de familia y los fieles que regresan a la comunidad.

Nuestra escuela tiene este año, muchas familias nuevas que han inscrito a sus hijos. Bienvenidos.

Nos sentimos felices de recibirlos y esperamos que hayan aprovechado de este tiempo, para tomar fuerzas y hacer hermosos planes para este año que vamos a empezar juntos.

Cada año es diferente, pero este nuevo año 2021-2022 será todavía más diferente de los demás. Estamos saliendo de la pandemia y durante este tiempo difícil, hemos aprendido muchas cosas.

Diría que la lección más importante que esta crisis nos deja es el hecho de que nos ha revelado, que tenemos una capacidad enorme de adaptación. Hemos sido obligados a cambiar nuestra manera de vivir, a inventar nuevas formas de actuar y aprender a utilizar técnicas y aparatos que nos ayudaron a continuar nuestras actividades. Felicitaciones a todas las personas que no tuvieron miedo de descubrir nuevas formas de actuar y de vivir. Felicitaciones a todas las personas, que se pusieron al servicio de los demás para ayudarles a adaptarse.

Otra lección que aprendimos ha sido descubrir la importancia de la solidaridad. Nunca había tenido tantos testimonios de solidaridad entre generaciones, entre vecinos y entre familias de diferentes medios sociales. Varias personas que habían recibido un cheque de solidaridad del Estado me solicitaron el nombre de una familia en dificultad, para ofrecer su cheque a alguien más necesitado que ellos. Qué hermosa lección de fraternidad.

Ahora que regresamos a la vida “casi normal” no podemos olvidar las hermosas cosas que aprendimos en este tiempo.

La escuela y la parroquia estará aquí para recordarles, que debemos levantarnos siempre. Que siempre debemos adaptarnos y luchar para una mejor manera de vivir. La escuela y la parroquia están aquí para recordarles siempre que la fraternidad es un valor que debemos defender y vivir en todas nuestras relaciones.

El Memorial del Covid que empezamos a realizar está casi terminado. Todavía tenemos 3 lugares, para 3 personas que hayan muerto de Covid o no desde noviembre 2019. El mosaico será colocado en la iglesia, al lado de la estatua del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y tendremos una misa de inauguración y de bendición del mosaico cuando esté terminado.

A partir del 28 de agosto, tendremos una Misa en inglés, una en español y una en francés cada fin de semana.

Esperamos que todas las personas que no venía a Misa por miedo al covid puedan regresar. Ahora que la mayoría de los fieles han sido vacunados, podemos sentirnos un poco más seguros. A pesar de que todo no ha terminado, podemos regresar a Misa. Respetamos estrictamente las normas sanitarias y animamos a todos los fieles, a recibir la vacuna. Desde hace dos meses, todas las personas que he visto con covid son personas que no han recibido la vacuna. La vacuna es la única arma eficaz que tenemos hoy, para detener la propagación del virus.

Bienvenidos todos y no olviden ayudarnos, a invitar a las personas que conocen a regresar a Misa y a distribuir el mensaje y la homilía semanales que enviamos por email o por correo.
