Always Get-up

2^nd and 3^rd Version

On the message of January 10^th, I told you about the storm that happened on the night of December 27 that completely destroyed the tent we had set up to protect the altar and the celebrants during Sunday’s Masses that we celebrate in the school parking lot.

In that message it said: “In life there are unexpected shocks. There are situations in which we must act quickly. There are blows that we receive and that leave us on the ground for a few minutes. We always must get up.

Even when others do not realize what is happening to us, we must get up and prepare to live with joy and confidence.

Sometimes there is no need to share our misfortune with everyone before facing the problem and finding a good solution.

I invite you to remember this little story to always think to get up when you are facing a problem, a difficulty, or a conflict. We always must get up.”

After that storm we bought a new tent that we quickly set up to be able to celebrate the end of the year festivities.

On Friday, January 8, there was a new storm. It broke the new tent but did not destroy it completely. We were able to repair it to use it on Sunday, January 10, at mass. We immediately thought of looking for a more stable and resistant solution. But the member of the parish who installed the tents and who helped me in the repair of the second one became contaminated with the virus and we were forced to suspend everything waiting for him to recover.

Fortunately, he, his wife and his family were able to recover from this terrible disease and he will soon return to continue the work.

In the week of January 25-29, we learned that strong winds would be blowing in our sector.

So, I got up, once more, and took a ladder to roll up the tent and prevent it from being destroyed by the wind.

Mr. Suk (a teacher from the school who was in the parking lot) and Steven (our musician from every Sunday) came to help me.

We disassembled the roof of the tent and rolled it up, hoping to be able to install it again in a definitive and safe way.

I share this story with you to remind you that we always have to get up. Two, three ... ten times and more. We always have to react to storms that disturb our calm. And, when possible, we must prevent damage before the storm hits.

Christians and men and women of good will always find solutions to combat evil and to rise up from the strong blows that life imposes on us.

Levantarse siempre

2ª y 3ª Versión

En el mensaje del 10 de enero, les hablé de la tempestad, ocurrida la noche del 27 de diciembre, que destruyó completamente la carpa que habíamos instalado para proteger el altar y a los celebrantes durante las misas dominicales, que celebramos en el estacionamiento de la escuela.

En ese mensaje decía: “En la vida hay eventos inesperados. Hay situaciones frente a las cuales debemos actuar rápido. Hay golpes que recibimos y nos dejan algunos minutos en el suelo. Siempre hay que levantarse.

Incluso cuando los demás, no se dan cuenta de lo que nos sucede. Debemos levantarnos y prepararnos para vivir con alegría y confianza.

A veces no hay necesidad de compartir nuestra desgracia con todo el mundo, antes de afrontar el problema y encontrar una buena solución. Los invito a recordar esta pequeña historia, para pensar siempre en levantarse, cuando estén frente a un problema, una dificultad o un conflicto. Tenemos que levantarnos siempre.”

Después de esa tempestad, compramos una carpa nueva que instalamos rápidamente, para poder celebrar las fiestas de fin de año.

El viernes 8 de enero tuvimos otra tempestad. Rompió la carpa nueva, pero no la destruyó completamente. Pudimos repararla para utilizarla, el domingo 10 de enero en la misa. Inmediatamente, pensamos en buscar una solución más estable y resistente. Pero el miembro de la parroquia, que instaló las carpas y que me ayudó en la reparación de la segunda, se contaminó con el virus y nos vimos obligados a suspenderlo todo, esperando su recuperación.

Afortunadamente él, su esposa y familia lograron curarse de esa terrible enfermedad. Dentro de poco regresará para continuar los trabajos.

En la semana del 25 al 29 de enero, supimos que tendríamos vientos fuertes en nuestro sector.

Entonces, me levanté, una vez más, tomé una escalera para enrollar la carpa y evitar que fuera destruida por el viento.

El Sr. Suk (un profesor de la escuela que estaba en el estacionamiento) y Steven (nuestro músico de todos los domingos) vinieron a ayudarme.

Desarmamos el techo de la carpa y la enrollamos, esperando poder instalarla nuevamente de una manera definitiva y segura.

Comparto con ustedes esta historia, para recordarles que siempre tenemos que levantarnos. Dos, tres... diez veces y más. Siempre tenemos que reaccionar a las tempestades que perturban nuestra calma. Y, cuando sea posible, prevenir los daños, antes de que la tempestad llegue.

Los cristianos, hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad, siempre encuentran soluciones para combatir el mal y levantarse de los golpes fuertes, que la vida nos impone.
