Sister Ivon after one year

This week's message has been written by Sister Ivón. Thank you for agreeing to write some lines to share with us your feelings after a year in the community of San Sebastian.

“The Hand of God sustained me yesterday, sustains me today, will sustain me tomorrow”

"Throughout our existence God always walks by our side, although sometimes we do not feel his presence. He shows us his love in all the moments of our life, because a good father never abandons his children. Even in the darkest nights God always remains. Let us learn to discover that in times of joy and pain God is present in our life. No matter the circumstance in which we find ourselves, life has been given to us to live it in the fullness of love and only in love can we find the true meaning of our existence. "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love" (1Jn, 8) Loving God means recognizing his presence, his gaze, in every gesture, in every word of our neighbors, in the wonders of creation, in the love and tenderness of a mother, in the innocence of children, in the joy of young people, in the wisdom of the elderly, but above all love of God means discovering his will in our own existence and living it to the fullest.

One day I felt a look of the Lord and I was touched by his love, He invited me to discover his will in my life; I did not understand clearly what He wanted, or rather, I did not want to understand what He was asking of me. His invitation was to follow him and just as at a certain moment in history he called his disciples, he also called me. "But one day, the One who had chosen me from my mother's womb, out of sheer kindness, liked to call me" (Gal 1-15). He promised that we would walk together with the only certainty of his love. In this way I have lived diverse experiences and I have found wonderful people who with their own life have taught me to live mine, today I particularly want to highlight the wonderful experience lived for a year in "San Sebastian’s Community".

Thanks to you I have experienced the wonderful thing of living in a multicultural community, because God is also known in diversity. Here I have discovered the greatness of God's love that is manifested in the welcome, in the joy, in the love that you have given me.

On the holy day of my religious profession many witnessed my consecration. With their eyes they invited me to be consistent with the lifestyle I had freely accepted. Today that look continues to extend through your look. You are the reason for the proclamation of the gospel and for whom the Son of God became Man by choosing those He wanted to carry out his saving work, because "to share life with people and giving ourselves generously, we also need to recognize that each person is worthy of our commitment "(Evangelii.Gaudium nº 274).

This new path in San Sebastian has not been static but dynamic because in it I have lived the joy of availability, dedication, solidarity, generosity of all the members of the community in each activity, today I can say that you are the reason for my consecration. You motivate me every day to give the best of me so that the kingdom of God may be extended.

Being in this community has become for me a great challenge and a new learning. It is not easy to leave the country of origin but I’m sustain by the full conviction of knowing that this is what God wants from me in this concrete moment of my life and of my history. The Lord invited me to spread my wings and take flight to these unknown lands, where you were waiting for me to be a small portion of the people of God so that together we could continue announcing the "joy of the Gospel".

The Lord invites me each day to love him and serve him in you who are my neighbor. My life makes sense in the way I give myself to others.

I give thanks to God because in his infinite kindness and mercy he has granted me the precious gift of belonging to this wonderful community. Thanks to all of you who are undoubtedly a blessing from God for me. Thanks to Father Germán and my community "Sisters of the Annunciation" for allowing me to be in this place, sharing with you the joy of serving the Lord.

In many ways the Lord continues to show me his love and today I can say with the psalmist: "I will sing eternally the mercies of the Lord" for all the good he has done to me.

I want to work with you so that together we can continue to sow the seed of the kingdom, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.

Mensaje del P. Germán

La Hnta Ivon después de un año

El mensaje de esta semana ha sido redactado por la Hermanita Ivón. Le agradezco haber aceptado escribir algunas líneas para compartir con nosotros sus sentimientos después de un año en la comunidad de San Sebastian.

“La Mano de Dios me sostuvo ayer, me sostiene hoy, me sostendrá mañana.”

“A lo largo de nuestra existencia, Dios siempre camina a nuestro lado, aunque en ocasiones no lo sintamos, Él nos manifiesta su amor en todos los momentos de nuestra vida. Como buen padre, nunca abandona a sus hijos, aún en las noches más oscuras. En los momentos de alegría y de dolor, Dios se manifiesta en nuestra vida.

Amar a Dios significa reconocer su presencia, su mirada, en cada gesto, en cada palabra de nuestros semejantes, en las maravillas de la creación, en el amor y la ternura de una madre, en la inocencia de los niños, en la alegría de los jóvenes, en la sabiduría de los ancianos, pero sobre todo amar a Dios significa descubrir su voluntad en la propia existencia y vivirla a plenitud.

Sólo en el amor podemos ver la manifestación de Dios y encontrar el verdadero sentido a nuestra existencia. “Quien no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor”.(1Jn,8).

Sin importar las circunstancias en la que nos encontremos,  la vida  nos ha sido dada para vivirla en la plenitud del amor.

Un día sentí la mirada del Señor y percibí su amor. Él me invitaba a descubrir su voluntad en mi vida; en ese momento, no comprendí claramente lo que Él quería, o más bien, no quería comprender lo que me pedía. Su invitación fue de seguirle. Como en un momento determinado de la historia, llamó a sus discípulos, también me llamó a mí. “Pero un día, Aquél que me había escogido desde el seno de mi madre, por pura bondad le agradó llamarme a mí”(Gal 1-15).  Él me prometió que caminaríamos juntos con la única certeza de su amor. En este camino he vivido diversas experiencias y encontrado personas maravillosas, que con su propia vida, me han enseñado a vivir la mía. Hoy particularmente, quiero destacar la maravillosa experiencia vivida desde hace un año en la Comunidad de San Sebastián.

Gracias a ustedes  he experimentado lo maravilloso de vivir en una comunidad multicultural, en ella he descubierto  la grandeza del amor de Dios que se manifiesta en la acogida, en la alegría, en el amor que me han brindado. He descubierto que Dios también se le conoce en la diversidad.

Hoy esa mirada de Dios se sigue prolongando a través de esta comunidad de San Sebastián, porque todos ustedes son la razón del anuncio del evangelio. Por quien el Hijo de Dios se hizo Hombre, para llevar a cabo su obra salvadora, porque “para compartir la vida con la gente y entregarnos generosamente, necesitamos reconocer también que cada persona es digna de nuestra entrega” (Evangelii.Gaudium  nº 274).

Este  nuevo  camino   en San Sebastián no ha sido estático, sino dinámico, en él he vivido la alegría de la disponibilidad, la entrega, la solidaridad, la generosidad  de todos los integrantes de la comunidad en cada actividad realizada. Hoy puedo decir que ustedes son la razón de ser de mi consagración, me motivan cada día a dar lo mejor de mí para que el reino de Dios se extienda.

Estar en esta comunidad, ha sido para mí un gran desafío, un reto y un nuevo aprendizaje. No ha sido fácil dejar el país de origen, pero me sostiene la plena convicción de saber que esto es lo que Dios quiere de mí, en este momento concreto de mi  vida y de mí historia. El Señor me invitó a extender mis alas y levantar el vuelo a estas tierras antes desconocidas, donde se encuentran ustedes que son integrantes del pueblo de Dios, para que juntos continuáramos  anunciando la a Alegría del evangelio. 

El Señor cada día me invita a amarle y servirle en ustedes que son mi prójimo.

Doy gracias a Dios porque en su infinita bondad y misericordia, me ha concedido el precioso regalo de pertenecer  a  esta maravillosa comunidad.   Gracias a todos ustedes que sin duda son una bendición de Dios para mí. Gracias al padre Germán y a mi comunidad “Hermanitas de la Anunciación” por permitirme estar, compartiendo con ustedes la alegría de  servir al Señor.

De muchas formas el Señor continúa mostrándome su amor y hoy puedo decir con el salmista: “Cantaré eternamente las misericordias del Señor” por todo el bien que me ha hecho.

Quiero invitarlos para que juntos continuemos sembrando la semilla del reino, para mayor gloria de Dios en el tiempo y en la eternidad.
