Gospel: Saint Luke 11,1-13

This Sunday’s Gospel tells us that Jesus had the habit of praying and that, one day, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray.”

It seems to me that, today, each of us should ask ourselves about prayer.

Like Jesus and his disciples, we need to pray.

Prayer is essential in a person’s life. We need to take time out of our busy daily activities to find ourselves and to discover the One who dwells within us.

Every believer should pray in order to feed his or her faith and to grow in his or her relationship with God. Prayer is to faith what food is to life. Faith is an illusion if it is not nurtured by frequent prayer and if we do not feed ourselves with moments of relating to and intimacy with God.

Perhaps we are convinced of the need for prayer in our lives and we know that in our busy days and weeks, filled with so many activities, we need moments of silence, contemplation, meditation, and moments where we meet God.

Yes, we know that prayer is indispensible but, like the apostles, maybe we need to say: Lord, teach us to pray. So, today, the Lord invites us to pray the Lord’s Prayer.

We know this prayer by heart. Because we say it every day, we run the risk of falling into a rut, repeating the words without being conscious of their power and weight.

This week, let us try to discover the depth inherent in the Lord’s Prayer. Let us try to understand, phrase by phrase, the prayer that Jesus taught us and that we have repeated since we were young.

This week, let us try to live the Lord’s Prayer each day. Let us try to transform the words that we say into actions and activities.

We still have a lot to learn from the Lord’s Prayer so that it may be food for our spiritual lives.

This Sunday’s liturgy also invites us to pray without ceasing, every day, and to never tire.

Let us pray that the Father will give us the Holy Spirit, which is the only one who can give us true peace and guide us along our earthly journey.

Teach us, Lord, to pray so that we may know how to ask with conviction for the power and light of the Holy Spirit.

2ª lectura: 1ª carta de San Pablo a los Colosenses 2,12-14

Evangelio: de San Lucas 11,1-13

El Evangelio de este domingo nos dice que Jesús tenía la costumbre de orar y que un día, después de hacer su oración, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: Señor, enséñanos a orar.

Me parece que cada uno de nosotros debe interrogarse hoy sobre la oración.

Como Jesús y como los discípulos, nosotros también necesitamos orar.

La oración es esencial en la vida de todo hombre. Necesitamos parar todas las actividades para encontrarnos con nosotros mismos y para descubrir Aquel que vive en nosotros.

Todo creyente debe orar para alimentar su fe y para crecer en su relación con Dios. La oración es a la fe lo que la comida es a la vida. La fe es una ilusión si no se acompaña de la oración frecuente, si no se alimenta de momentos de relación y de intimidad con Dios.

Tal vez estamos convencidos de la necesidad de la oración en nuestra vida y sabemos que en nuestras jornadas y semanas agitadas, por las múltiples actividades, necesitamos momentos de silencio, momentos de contemplación, momentos de meditación, momentos de encuentro con Dios.

Sabemos que la oración es indispensable pero tal vez necesitamos decir hoy: Señor, enséñanos a orar. Y hoy también, el Señor nos invita a orar con el Padre Nuestro.

Todos conocemos de memoria esta oración y como la recitamos todos los días existe el riego de caer en la rutina y en la repetición de palabras sin tomar conciencia de la fuerza y del peso de esta pequeña oración.

En esta semana, tratemos de descubrir la profundidad del Padre Nuestro. Tratemos de comprender frase por frase de esta oración que Jesús nos enseño y que repetimos desde que éramos niños.

En esta semana, tratemos de vivir el Padre Nuestro en la vida de todos los días. Tratemos de transformar las palabras que pronunciamos en acciones y en actividades.

Todavía tenemos mucho que aprender sobre el Padre Nuestro para que esta oración sea un alimento en nuestra vida.

La liturgia de este domingo nos invita también a orar con insistencia, todos los días y sin cansarnos.

Orar para que el Padre nos de el Espíritu Santo que es el único que puede darnos la paz y que puede guiarnos en el camino de la vida.

Señor, enséñanos a orar para que sepamos pedir con convicción la fuerza y la luz del Espíritu Santo.
