1st Reading: from the  Book of Exodus 16,2-4.12-15

2º Reading:  from the letter of  Saint Paul to the Ephesians 4,17.20-24

Gospel: Saint John 6,24-35

The Church offers us the discourse of Jesus on the bread of Life throughout 4 consecutive Sundays. 

We have 4 Sundays to talk about the Eucharist and its meaning in our lives.

On last week’s homily, I was saying that:

“We need the Body and Blood of Christ for feeding faith and to live the call that we have received from the Lord and that Saint Paul sends us on his letter to the Ephesians: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

This week, I would like that we become more aware of the grace or the gift that we have received from God: Faith.

When we listen to Jesus declaring:

“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst” Jn 6,35

We understand why there are people who do not go to Church or whom the mass is a waste of time or an uninteresting event.

The Eucharist is neither an entertainment show nor a concert. Mass is the time in which we express together our Faith.

We are here because we believe that the Bread and Wine we share are the Body and Blood of Christ that comes to our Body and our Life to feed us and fill us of Strength and Love.

Faith is neither imposed, nor explained; faith is received. God gives us for free his Son for us to accept him or reject him.

We need to thank God for making it possible for us to be born in a family or having found people who helped us open our eyes, ears and heart to receive Faith.

We need to thank God and the community who made us discover and who help us grow in the welcome we give to the Lord each Sunday when we say AMEN to the Body and Blood of Christ that comes to our hunger and satiates our thirst.

The Mass needs Faith and Faith is a gift from God. Thanks to the Lord for the Faith that we have. Help us find answers to our questions and that our doubts do not impede us to move forward in the knowledge of Truth and the Path to Faith.

Let us ask to the Lord that our Masses are a moment in which each one of us, from the youngest to the eldest one is able to meet with the Lord and discover the Body of Christ present in the Bread and Wine and in the Community called by the Lord to receive and become the Body of Christ.

18º Domingo de la Iglesia

1ª lectura: del libro del Éxodo 16,2-4.12-15

2ª lectura: de la carta de San Pablo a los Efesios 4,17.20-24

Evangelio: de San Juan 6,24-35

La Iglesia nos propone el discurso de Jesús sobre el pan de Vida durante 4 domingo consecutivos.

Tenemos 4 domingos para hablar de la Eucaristía y de su significado en nuestra vida.

En la homilía de la semana pasado les decía que:

“Necesitamos el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo para alimentar la fe y para vivir la llamada que hemos recibido del Señor y que San Pablo nos transmite en su carta a los Efesios: “sean siempre humildes y amables; sean compasivos y sopórtense mutuamente con amor; esfuércense en mantenerse unidos en el Espíritu con el vínculo de la paz”.

Esta semana quisiera que tomemos conciencia de la gracia o del regalo que hemos recibido de Dios: La Fe.

Cuando escuchamos a Jesús declarar: “Yo soy el pan de la vida. El que viene a mi no tendrá hambre y el que cree en mí nunca tendrá sed” Jn 6,35.

Comprendemos porqué hay personas que no vienen a Misa o para quienes la Misa una pérdida de tiempo o un momento sin interés.

La Eucaristía no es un show, un concierto o un espectáculo. La Misa es un momento en el cual manifestamos juntos nuestra Fe.

Estamos aquí porque creemos que el Pan y el Vino que compartimos son el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo que viene a nuestro Cuerpo y a nuestra Vida para alimentarnos y para llenarnos de Fuerza y de Amor.

La Fe no se impone, no se explica; la fe se recibe. Dios nos da gratuitamente su Hijo para que nosotros lo aceptemos o lo rechacemos.

Debemos agradecer al Señor habernos permitido nacer en una familia o de haber encontrado personas que nos ayudaron a abrir los ojos, los oídos y el corazón para recibir la Fe.

Debemos agradecer al Señor y a la comunidad que nos hizo descubrir y que nos ayuda a crecer en la acogida que le damos al Señor cada domingo cuando decimos AMÉN al Cuerpo y a la Sangre de Cristo que vienen a nuestra hambre y saciar nuestra sed.

La Misa necesita la Fe y la Fe es un don de Dios. Gracias Señor por la Fe que tenemos. Ayúdanos a encontrar respuestas a nuestras preguntas y has que las dudas no nos impiden seguir buscando para que avancemos en el conocimiento de la Verdad y en el Camino la Fe.

Pidámosle al Señor que nuestras Misas sean un momento en el cual cada uno, desde el más pequeño hasta el más anciano pueda encontrarse con el Señor y descubrir el Cuerpo de Cristo presente en el Pan y el Vino y en la Comunidad convocada por el Señor para recibir y para convertirse en el Cuerpo de Cristo.
