The message of the liturgy is summarized in the word: Ephphatha! Open up!

We live in a society that tends to close its doors instead of opening them.

We often hear that borders must be closed to prevent the arrival of poor immigrants. Schools must be closed to all religious signs to prevent children from being indoctrinated. You have to shut your mouth to avoid talking about religion or announcing the Word of God to people who do not know Him. You have to close your eyes so as not to discover the presence of God in creation because everything is the fruit of evolution.

Today the liturgy has a completely different discourse. We must open. We have not been made to close but to open. We must open our ears, eyes, and hearts to live happily in fraternity.

Open our ears:

One of the most useful parts of our body are the ears. Today they even serve as a place to tie the masks that protect us from the virus.

Leaving the joke aside, we have two ears because we have an incontestable need to listen. We are beings of communication, and the most important element in communication is listening.

Many conflicts between us, between couples, between countries occur because we do not know how to communicate.

If listening is not sincere, unconditional, and respectful, there cannot be a productive dialogue.

We must learn to listen to what the other says and not what I want him to say.

We must also listen to those who suffer. Listen to the poor, to immigrants. Listen to those that society puts aside because it does not want to listen to them.

Jesus is in our midst to open our ears.

Open our mouth.

I will not talk much about opening our mouth because I think we know how to open it frequently. Instead, we must learn to use our mouths to announce the wonders of God, to thank God for all that he offers us, non-stop and free. We must open our mouths to announce good news; to tell others that we love them and to comfort those who suffer; to denounce injustice and to fight against the corruption that destroys our relationships and our society.

We must unleash our tongues to speak for those who have no voice in the world. God gave us a tongue to help us build fraternal relationships.

Jesus is in our midst to help us use our tongue for the good of all.

Open our heart:

You know, as I do, that all good or bad actions are decided in our hearts. A closed heart lives in fear, in solitude, and with distrust. An open heart is always happy, and lives surrounded by friends and projects.

We need to open our hearts to avoid locking ourselves into selfishness.

Jesus is in our midst to open our hearts to others.

Let's open the doors of our life and let Jesus enter our existence. Our ears will open to listen to others, our tongue will be unleashed to announce good news, and our hearts will open to love.

1ª lectura: del libro de Isaías 35,4-7a

2ª lectura: carta de Santiago 2,1-5

Evangelio: de San Marcos 7,31-37

El mensaje de la Liturgia se recapitula en la palabra: ¡Effetá! ¡Ábrete!

Vivimos en una sociedad que tiende a cerrar sus puertas, en lugar de abrirlas.

Frecuentemente, escuchamos que hay que cerrar las fronteras, para evitar la llegada de inmigrantes pobres. Hay que cerrar las escuelas a todos los símbolos religiosos, para evitar que los niños sean indoctrinados. Hay que cerrar la boca, para no hablar de religión o anunciar la Palabra de Dios, a las personas que no la conocen. Hay que cerrar los ojos, para no descubrir la presencia de Dios en la creación, porque todo es resultado de la evolución.

Liturgia de hoy tiene un discurso completamente diferente. Debemos abrir. No hemos sido hechos para cerrar, sino para abrir. Debemos abrir las orejas, los ojos y el corazón para vivir como fraternamente felices.

Abrir los oídos:

Una de las partes más útiles de nuestro cuerpo es el oído. Una parte del oído, son las orejas que nos sirven hoy para sujetar los cubre bocas que nos protegen del virus.

Dejando el chiste a un lado. Tenemos oídos porque tenemos una necesidad indiscutible de escuchar. Somos seres de comunicación y el elemento más importante en la comunicación es el escuchar.

Muchos conflictos entre nosotros, entre las parejas, entre los países se producen por que no sabemos comunicar.

Si el escuchar no es sincero, incondicional y respetuoso, no puede haber un dialogo productivo.

Debemos aprender a escuchar, lo que el otro dice. No lo que yo quisiera que dijera.

También debemos escuchar a aquellos que sufren. Escuchar a los pobres, a los inmigrantes. Escuchar a aquellos que la sociedad pone a un lado, porque no quiere escucharlos.

Jesús está en medio de nosotros para abrir nuestros oídos.

Abrir la boca.

No hablaré mucho de abrir la boca, porque creo que sabemos abrirla frecuentemente. En cambio, debemos aprender a servirnos de la boca, para anunciar las maravillas de Dios. Para dar gracias a Dios, por todo lo que nos ofrece, sin detenerse y en forma gratuita. Debemos abrir la boca para anunciar buenas noticias. Para decir a los demás, que los amamos y consolar a los que sufren. Para denunciar la injusticia y luchar contra la corrupción que destruye nuestras relaciones y nuestra sociedad.

Debemos desatar la lengua para hablar, por aquellos que no tienen voz en el mundo. Dios nos dio una lengua que nos sirve para construir relaciones fraternales.

Jesús está en medio de nosotros, para ayudarnos a utilizar nuestra lengua por el bien de todos.

Abrir el corazón:

Ustedes saben, como yo, que todas las buenas o las malas acciones se deciden en nuestro corazón. Un corazón cerrado vive con miedo, en la soledad y con desconfianza. Un corazón abierto siempre está alegre, vive rodeado de amigos y de proyectos.

Necesitamos abrir el corazón para evitar encerrarnos en el egoísmo.

Jesús está en medio de nosotros, para abrir nuestro corazón a los demás.

Abramos las puertas de nuestra vida y dejemos entrar a Jesús en nuestra existencia. Nuestros oídos se abrirán, para escuchar a los demás, nuestra lengua se desatará para anunciar buenas nuevas y nuestro corazón se abrirá para amar.
